Do you think "computer networking" is more of a left-brain or right-brain career?

These are the IT guys that help you troubleshoot and fix problems with your computer. Also, in the corporate world they create user accounts that you log ito, as well as manage them by setting security permissions and what group your account belongs to.

Some of these people connect and setup routers and switches for businesses. They are also the ones in charge of e-mail and web servers, as well as the proxy/firewall (which is what blocks you from accessing parts of the Internet at work.)

People in this field are the ones that deal with the physical technological backbone and schematics of the company. Their jobs almost never involve creating any computer programs, but they are the ones that install and manage the programs on your computer at work. So if something breaks, you call them.

So, do you think this is more of a left-brain or right-brain career field?

My guess would be that it's left-brained. Maybe that's why the thought of working at that kind of job sounds about as appealing to me as having all of my skin chewed off by an infinite swarm of rabid kittens.

Left Brain 99%. Any tinkering with objects is processed in the left hemisphere, that includes typing on the keyboard and getting around established patterns.

Right-brainer here and I can do IT support stuff quite well (been living with computers since 5 and last year had IT support job for 5 months).

Or actually, I'm not sure if I'm right-brainer, I have taken tests and result is always both-brainer (I guess tests are not enough reliable...)

Networking is a no-brain career. I know: I was a network engineer. Giving it up was a no-brainer.

I'd say that left-brained types are more predisposed for an IT profession, but it doesn't completely close out right-brained types either. I think it would depend on the persons interests.
