Alcohol can help those who suffer from social anxiety as long as it is used in moderation. It isn't a cure, but works well as a temporary treatment. Despite the social benefits of having a buzz, actual drunkenness can make a person socially awkward, and should probably be avoided if a person wishes to use alcohol as an effective remedy.

maybe you need to realize that when people drink of course they change outwardly, their judgment is impaired, but at the end of the day when the alcohol has worn off they're the same person who loves and care for you.

People say and do stupid things on alcohol and them just being drunk doesn't justify them but you should understand that they aren't thinking clearly when they do it and there is no real intention of causing harm (for the most part) when people drink.

There was very real intention of causing harm when my father would drink, I must point out.

(I do see your points, though.)

Ah, that's very understandable. All I can say is coming from my perspective of how I dealt with my fears, I really had to consciously drill into myself that I was clearly afraid of the harm people will do to me (whether it be through alcohol, or for me rejection), that this fear is real, and this harm is real, but only in certain contexts. Not every encounter with alcohol or rejection is one of intended harm, and in fact a lot of the time the only real harm that's done is the spurring on of my own fears.

I hope that helps in someway, and I hope you overcome this fear :)
