    Things People Say

This is to write down things that people say on a regular basis, and I wonder if they can be put down to type. Analysis can come later.

"Trust me" she said. I would not trust her as far as I could throw her.

"You know what I mean!" Tempting to say I have not got the foggiest idea and this would be my reply, but I really intuit that he is browbeating the Others into getting his way. Anybody who does not that I think that Turtlehead is a Lazy Toad had better watch out, I will call in the Doctors and have them certified as a Dissident (the Psi Cops method is to denigrate them using psychiatry in civilised countries: in uncivilised lands they connect dissidents to the electricity supply or kick their heads in. Actually, the latter happens in Police State UK as well as shooting undesirable aliens).

Yeah, I agree on the "trust me" part. The person would have to give me a GOOD REASON to trust him or her.

As for "you know what I mean," I say that when I'm having trouble stringing words together in a coherent sentence but know that the other person knows what I'm talking about. Or when I'm making sure something I'm saying makes sense. You know what I mean?

"What's done is done." - Okay, it is. But I hate it when someone does something stupid or uncalled for and then says that as an excuse. Even though you can't undo it, you can start by admitting you learned a lesson.

"...if you will..." - An old person's way of saying "like". Example: "She wasn't very humble. She was rather snobby, if you will." Compare: "She wasn't very humble. She was like, rather snobby."

"Shit happens" said by somebody on release from jail after trying to murder his wife by bashing her over the head.

Ooh, I've got one that ticks me off: "Life's not fair." Usually when someone says this, it is to justify the fact that he or she is at least partly the cause of that generalized unfairness. I'm always tempted to respond with "only because people like you make it that way. Stating that your localized evil is part of a larger, macrocosmic evil is not in any way a justification for it, asshole."

"And that's an end to it"

You know what I’m sayin? The slangy version of you know what I mean.

It is what it is, another variant of what's done is done and shit happens. Perhaps more appropriate when explaining to your boss there is no good way to fix some big problem that came up.

Please take this in the spirit in which it’s intended, used when someone wants to insult someone without them being offended. Nothing Personal is a variation of this. Both code for I am about to put you down or insult you in some way but I don’t want to have consequences to the not very nice thing I am about to say. Nothing Personal can also be used after the fact for damage control.

So to speak…… yeah, I hear ya…. All righty then.. so on and so forth…. Go for it… You got it… good for you…. Way to go…. Up yours… what’s it to ya…. Sit on this….. Outta here

Someone telling me "It just is," as if there is no possible reason for why something happened. Frickin' A that irritates the heck out of me.

    "Suck it up"

    "Get over it"

"lmfao" in response to me being upset or saying something completely serious -.-

"its not that i am ____ but _____"

They think that just because they say the are not something, it automatically makes their comment less offensive. For instance:

"its not that i am an antisemite or anything, but jews certainly victimize themselves too much over the holocaust thing to manipulate us"

Yeah! Or "no offense, but ____". Or following up a real insult with "just kidding!"
