    pms and your mental health

    I find whenever it is my time of the months iam extremely depressed , paranoid, unhappy, schitzofrenic,crazy, hysterical, miserable angry, sad and irritated. in fact last year whilst i was on my period i was hysterical i sat on the floor screaming and crying and scratched all my face and arms & legs until i was bleeding. and iam a psychologically healthy girl iam always peaceful calm content and can see things very clearly. but when it my time of the months i do these things Is this normal???

    p.s iam currently on my period, i have spent all day crying on the floor thinking about how badly iam treated by others.

    Yeah, yours sounds more like PMDD. You can talk to a OBGYN about it and see what your options are.... I'm pretty emotional when I'm PMSing and also pretty impatient and irritable, but I've never physically hurt myself (even if it wasn't intentional). I would suggest talking to your doctor about it.

    really...I experience some of the mood swings...but no harming of myself or anything...?

    Could be. Its something you certainly want to talk to your doctor about. If you havent already you may want to get your thyroid levels checked, that also can have an effect on moods. Low vitamin D also.

    That time of month is pure hell for me. I've had suicidal thoughts and suddenly all the people I love and trust the most *seem* to purposely be trying to hurt me. I also seem to remember everything bad that has ever happened in my life (when the rest of the the time these thoughts never cross my mind)

    I went on the BC pill that was supposed to help it and it made me act that way ALL the time rather than just one week out of the month. *sigh* I guess it's something I'm going to have to tolerate......
