Workouts? What are they? ANYONE ZUMBA????

So for a few months now I have been doing Zumba at the YMCA.

For those that don't know what Zumba is it's a fusion of Latin and International music that creates a dynamic, exciting, and effective fitness system. You can burn up to 800-900 calories in a session....HECK YEAH!

So I go on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. I am throwing weights in there to. I also will step on the elyptical for 25-30 minutes before a class.

Just wondering what you guys do to stay in shape. How often you do it? Is it working for you.

If anyone Zumba's let me know!

I go to a gym, lift weight and do cardio on my off days. It does not sound as exiting as this Zumba, but I like it.

I lift weights and do sprints and plyometrics. I prefer training like an "athlete" over doing bodybuilding magazine-type workouts, with most of my weight training coming from basic movements like the squat, deadlift, and bench press.

In case anyone is interested my current workout program is 5/3/1, which was created by Jim Wendler. There is a book about this workout program available at EliteFTS.com (I'm not putting a direct link because I don't want this to seem like an ad).

I heard of Zumba once, saw it on TV-shop ( I watch TV-shop all the time), I didn't think it looked like much, just another scam I thought. But,..800-900 calories, that's pretty impressive I must say.

Currently I go to my local gym 3-4 times a week and lift weights etc, been doing so on and off for ~ 2 years now. I used to follow a program called 5x5 which was good the first 9 months, but atm I'm improvising a bit to get some variation. I know what exercises I should/need to do, and I've actually noticed quite a bit of progress lately. I might take a look at MannyP's program though.
During the summer I run a few times every week as well, but I hate running on a treadmill which makes the running hard to keep going during the winter seeing as it's snowy and freezing cold outside.

Yeah if you have a good instructor and you make an effort to be there I think it's a good thing. I have a big dance background so it comes easy for me. I don't realize I'm working out b/c it's fun.

Then I hit the weights and do elyptical. That bores me some.

I do a mix of bench pressing, shoulder presses, pull ups, shrugs, and I do hill sprints, with a weighted backpack.

But I usually slack off a bit on the other exercises when doing weighted hill sprints.

One of my friends does Zumba :D

I signed up for a cardio kickboxing class at my school, and I love it. I have trouble getting motivated to work out, so the class setting is definitely for me. Plus, since I paid for it, I kind of have to get my lazy ass outta bed and go. Having taken the class, I feel like I could beat someone up if I needed to
