What is the best offer you've ever turned down?

I was offered a chance to go to an all girls grammar school, especially for gifted children. It is one of the best schools in the UK and offers the most amazing education. But I turned it down. I'm not sure why I turned it down. I was 11 years old and most people thought I was crazy. But for some reason I just couldn't bring myself to go through with it.
I don't regret my decison. Because if I had of been attending that school, I would still be stuck in my shitty hometown and I;d be in the smae area as where my abuser lives, or will be living whne he comes out of prison.
I guess things happen for a reason :)
