is common sence becomeing...not so common?

ok so I'm pretty sure most of the answers I'll get will be, YES! you could stand in a room of rocket scientists and still feel like a genius if you have so much as a bit of common sence! I see and hear so meny things on a day to day basis that screams "I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO COMMON SENCE WHAT SO EVA!" that I'm actually starting to feel bad for the earth for haveing to hold such.....how shall I say? I don't think there's even a good word for it! yet. atleast not a nice one. I'll make one up. but yah, I doubt my IQ is really all tat aboe average, but I tend to walk around school feeling like an absolute genius because I hear some meny people talking about problems and stuff where all they really need is just and insy tinsy winsy itty bitty little bit of common sence to compleatly solve the entire ordeal without a swet!
I wouldn't be surprised that if on any random day I walk down the street and pass atleast 5 people who only know 1 word, F!

so what do you think about this? what are you're comments and ideas?

First thing I thought of when I saw this thread:

I see many stupid people, but I don't know about 'common sense becoming not so common'. I think the stupid people really just stand out to me.

it's just alot of the people I see around me that come across as dumb for the most part only seem dumb because it's clear they lack vary much common sence. had they just some more they'd seem far more competent. I'm not saying they arn't competent or they are stupid, but they come across that way. I so often hear people ask dumb common sence question. thier so easy I don't eve have to think about the for a second, the answer is just naturally right there just waiting to be said. but these people are so compleatly dumb founded by what ever poblem it happens to be. I hear it all the time.

I believe the term "common sense" is a misnomer because it is so typical that people lack it. But I've heard it thrown around so much with so many applications that the words themselves doesn't seem to hold any clear, particular meaning. My view of common sense is the ability to see things logically and to predict the outcomes of a certain base range of behaviours. But this is because I value competence, knowledge, and objectivism so much. My ESFJ friend's view of common sense seems to be based upon proper social behaviour, which I interpret as her value for status and for things to be "right" as she's grown up to know them.

One would think common sense could be used to define common sense but... Alas, things are not this simple. :/

I think common sense is common, people choose not to think at times. I see that saying as an excuse.

Perhaps we're encountering more and more situations that require something beyond common sense? Maybe back in the day when the hardest problems one would encouter were how to use a door knob or figure out how to use a shovel, common sense could make it happen. But now, such things as computers or the long term versus the short term benefit of environmental, political or economic decisions are not so clear. My own cynicism suspects that the powers that be are exploiting this on a daily basis.

Common sense is the cruelest oxymoron, especially when you see other people lacking any sort of common sense.

Common sense definition of common sense:
    Sense which is common.
    See 'sense' and 'common'.

    What senses are common?

Pain seems to be a common one. Hence, most people do not punch themselves in the face.
