Shin Megami Tensei: Persona

Anyone ever played this?

Persona 3 for the PS2 is supposedly good, haven't gotten around to yet, though.

I've played and beat person 3, person 3:fes, persona 3 portable, persona 4...geting..Catherine on the 26th when it comes out..catherine is a different type of game but its based in the same universe as persona 3 and persona 4.....

persona games just use Jungian theory mixed with tarot card interpretations...
to give backdrop to mystery jrpgs at the core..... they use the same demons in all the megaten games..

What does this have to do with ISTPs?

I was thinking I might buy it for the istp I know. I might actually enjoy watching him play that.

Umm....being an ISTP or not wouldn't matter for a video game selection....if he likes the occult and jrpgs thats what matters....not all ISTP like the same things...sigh.....I'm not even going to say it ...I have a headache today..

Well, maybe if you didn't make so many assumptions you wouldn't get so many headaches.

I wanted to hear a bit more about it and get a few opinions. I know that a lot of istp's like video games and that there would be a good chance I'd get to talk to someone who actually played it.

Sigh...please stop trying to egg me on..its childish..a lot of ppl like video games.....there is no vast number of istps that like video games we are part of of the same mix of people that like or dislike video games.... i know INTPs (roommate) and ISTJs, ENFPs, INFJs, etc that like video games.and ppl with the same type that dislike video games.....type doesn't indicate if you like video games or not...sigh you make me sad...

What type does indicate is default thinking pattern...that's about it..and I kinda have a indication of what you are thinking....a skill I dislike using..sigh

The ISTP specific board is not the place to get video game recommendations...even if its for an ISTP....gamefaqs.com or some other video game forum is...

And please don't assume why I have a headache..sigh...you have no idea about my work or personal life...

The Shin Megami Tensei franchise is fantastic. Beyond fantastic, really. I personally recommend Digital Devil Saga, but only if your friend is already a fan of SMT, as it's a difficult game compared to most JRPGs and is not a good choice for an SMT newbie. Persona 3 and 4 are good gateway drugs to SMT. 3 has a darker, angstier atmosphere and a heavier focus on plot and dungeoning (there's a 200-floor dungeon at the center of the plot). 4 is more upbeat and is much more focused on characters and relationships, and its plot revolves around a murder mystery in a rural town.

SMT games are generally very philosophical and often draw heavily from various religions for their plots (particularly Hinduism and Buddhism, although the Persona spinoff just uses Jungian theory and tarot cards, like Galldune said), and they are known for their high level of difficulty. Seriously, pretty much any SMT sideboss (or any of the trickier normal bosses, in the cases of DDS and Nocturne) is going to kill you one to ten times before you get your battle strategy right. But that's the fun part. C:

SMT games are RIDICULOUSLY FUN TO PLAY and pretty fun to watch people play, too. I personally recommend Persona 4. It's a better game than 3 overall, imo, and it's more fun.
