16types, EIDB - they're occupied by toxic characters who just stress you out and pull you into pointless politics and conflicts (which, I must admit, I'm currently finding it very hard to steer away from). The hostility is unhealthy.

This place isn't overly rigid and moderating - cutting out swears and stuff - but it's not so liberal there's flames and drama going on all over the place. And it's friendly and diverse enough to be genuinely interesting. There's a lot going on, it isn't dominated by a small oligarchy, and it basically just strikes the perfect balance between accommodating and interesting.

So KUFUCKINGDOS to the creators, and the contributors. A DAMN fine job you've done here, chaps and chappettes.

I agree. It's a refreshing atmosphere.

Within an internet context, I think the nature of the environment (values, etc) creates structure. Humans need structure, otherwise such an environment brings out the worst in people. It's not all good, but I generally think perc has a hell of a lot of good things going for it. Definitely deserves kudos.

I agree.... I can't stay on forums more than 2 months before I get bored. But this site has kept my interest more than any other.

The moderation here is reasonable and fair. If you don't do the things that cause an infraction or a ban, I don't you have anything to worry about. There's always going to be people who complain about the moderation and there are less moderated forums that those people can join.

I enjoy the atmosphere on here. Almost everyone on here accepting and welcoming and civil. There's a couple of people who are problematic but usually these people are quick to get banned or just leave themselves.

I used to be a regular on the 16types but now only check and post sporadically. I couldn't deal with the constantly contentious atmosphere. The mods over there don't seem to do much of anything to resolve the problem. I feel like I'm in the minority over there, wanting to permanently ban people who have repeatedly insulted others. I probably wouldn't go over there at all except there are a couple of people whose posts I really enjoy reading.
