What are you into this week?

Lately I've had a weird fascination with 4-d shapes and entomology. Last week it was different mathematical bases and ancient cosmological models of the universe. Kind of esoteric interests, but in the past I've gotten just as deeply interested in subjects like baseball, the civil war, and really good tv shows like Freaks and Geeks and Nowhere Man.

Does anyone else find themselves cycling through random interests like that? If so, how long do your interests usually last? What are you currently obsessed with?

My interests pretty much stay the same with the thing I'm currently obsessed with being myself.

This week I'm trying out a free MMO I haven't played before, so a disproportionate amount of my attention has been on that.

My interest usually last for at least five months(rough estimate). Somehow I get interested in past tv shows. Lately, I have been trying to collect the complete Dirty Harry collection...no luck so far. I've also became interested in the strategies of war. I read the Art of War and now I want an army!

I can have interests outside of school, beyond my senior thesis? Heresy!

I do not have enough time at this moment for transient obsessions. I haven't had time for a few weeks/months, and it's killing me. I checked out a book on synthetic biology and its impact on the meaning of life, one on the "myth of the rational agent," and one on symbols. Cellular automata (*cue schwarz squealing like a schoolgirl* ), complexity, and species competition are fascinating. In differential equations, two girls gave a presentation on a project about the population of three competing species, which was very intriguing.

Oh wait, I do happen to have a final project on something I love. Computer security. I am focusing on forensic means of getting around cryptography to find evidence/data. Cold boot attacks look interesting, and I have to find out more about password crackers.

This week I have the house to myself & I am interested in seeing if I can keep it clean & finish some decor to surprise my roommate. Hm it's not really an interest like you are speaking of but it's the main focus of my brain at the moment & I do like moving furniture around while people are gone.

My interests have stayed the same over the past year or two or four. I've been spending a lot of time with my keyboard trying to learn some interesting piano pieces. I have found myself becoming more interested in achieving my goals, which is an INFJ trait that I've yet to learn steadily. I hope to develop tunnel vision this year so I can get where I need to be.
