    I am jealous of [E]STP?

As an ISTP, I am usually quite calm and reserved, needing little or nothing to sustain myself. But when it comes to social interaction, I can "go with the flow", but I always find myself stuck. It's as if the ISTP mindset is weaker [though more patient] than the extraverted ESTP mindset. I wish I could converse and think more like an ESTP, because I would definately enjoy life a lot more. Can someone help me understand the true difference between ESTP and ISTP mindset?

I have no idea, why don't you share the differences you've noticed yourself (in a more precise manner) and what leads you to be jealous of us.

Well, I am mainly referring to our reserved nature. Sometimes I feel like I'm not getting the best out of life because I want to go to parties, want to socialize regularly, but it's like I'm in between the fine line of being introverted and extraverted... Yes, I relish my abilities and talents, but it seems if you guys can do almost anything....

Even if you're reserved by "nature", it doesn't mean you can't change it if it's making you unhappy.

The point of MBTI and putting a "label" on yourself is to know where your weaknesses lay at and try to overcome them and be a more balanced person.

If you want to go to parties and socialize more often, then do it. It might seem alien to you at first but eventually you'll get the hang of it and it'll come to you more naturally. I've got a friend who's an ISTP and she parties and socializes quite often and when she does (with the right amount of alcohol in her system), I'd say she's the life of the party nine times out of ten.

The reason why most ESTPs can do "almost anything" is 'cause they're usually self-confident by "nature", this leads them to believe they can do practically anything and thus, they excel at it.

Hahaha this is the reason why so many people drink alcohol, I find that my I turns into an E after a few drinks. I think that as an ISTP the main problem is being exposed/comfortable in social situations, just learn to say yes more often and put yourself out there.

Learn to be comfortable with people thinking you're weird or socially awkward. If you're okay with what people think of you, it won't bother you and suddenly you're as free as an ESTP and you can do whatever it is you desire.

I read through all of the replies and they make absolute sense. I think my main problem is that sometimes I get too 'self aware' to the point that it makes me go crazy. A lot of ISTP's such as myself tend to fall for the 'delusional trap' that someones out to get us. Maybe I should start Doing more, and care not what other people think, because I'm not a mind reader. Thanks guys for replying, this helps a lot.
