    ESTP friendships

I have a question for ESTPs. Which types do you get along best with (as friends, lovers, confidants, partners in crime) and which types do you get along least well with (outright conflict, people you just don't "get," people you find boring)?

I'm writing a character who I think is ESTP. A really charismatic, entreprenurial type who is incredibly good at selling and motivating people (e.g., crowds), whether or not he really believes what he is selling. He has an incredible amount of interpersonal intelligence (does that describe an ESTP)? I'm trying to figure out how he might relate to the other characters around him.

One of them is a young, impressionable apprentice who believes in him and his drawn to his confidence and charisma, presumably because these are characteristics he does not share. I imagine this character to be an IXXX of some sort. The ESTP, of course, gets something out of the relationship, but I'm not sure what.

Thanks for helping me brainstorm. I'd love to learn more about ESTPs.

Well it sounds like an ESTP, only difference for me is I need to like and be enthuthiastic about what it is I am trying to sell. I guess everyone is different though.

As for types, hmm. I get along with all of them. In RL i mainly hang around with women and I get on great with INTP, ENTP, ENTJ and all the sensors. There are a couple INTJ women I get on with as well. As for guys I experience with ENTJ and we get a long but I am not thrilled about how he thinks. As for NF I love and get along with all the women. Again my experience with males mainly comes from online. I assume them to be generally the same. Only difference might come from jealousy issues.

i think i need specific questions.

The sidekick would be an audience. If a tree falls in the forest......

Life is a stage most times for an ESTP

As to who to hang with.....unlike Bob, I hang out with other men, as I am a masculine ESTP.

ISTP....much alike but cooler and more in control
ENTP....great for brain storming and mental grappling with
INTJ.....great as a source of sober second thought
ENFP.....they make a great audience and love the ESTPs style and adventurous nature
    ESFP.....great party pals

I don't reckon you are ESTP

The mainly hanging out with gals sealed the deal

I always used to hang with guys but after my divorce I gradually stopped. More to do with trying to figure out feelings. I am by no means a feeler. Talking to guys about anything related to them is impossible. Most men just get all scared and uncomfortable. I have an ESFJ friend and there is no doubt he is a feeler. You haven't been here long enough by any stretch to know me Ape. Not all ESTP are thrill seeking adrenaline junkies.

There is no denial here. I think there are plenty on the site that can back me on this one. Just because I understand my feeling this doesn't make me a feeler. You arguments don't really come off like you have a clue about MBTI. By your logic if i were gay I couldn't be ESTP either?

It walks like a duck..... quacks like a duck........ but it is not a duck?

Do you see the lack of thinking perceiving matched with thinking judgement in your statement?

The above is a feeler statement

The reason most other men do not like talking feelings with you is because most other men are thinkers and are not comfortable in feeling world.......as you are

    Get it?

    ps

The very very last thing on earth an ESTP would want to do with his life is lead a life of chit chatting feelings with his girlfriends

    Seriously dude......think about it

TreeBob's definitely EST. I've read a lot of his posts and he is sure as hell not ESFP. ESFP tends to be wacky and want to keep everything light. I think the reason you're reading some Te here (thinking judging) is that TB is pretty much ESTx and that ESTJ side comes out when he's annoyed (I've noticed that).

Now I'm definitely a male Feeling type, in spite of my efforts to be tough sometimes. There's a world of difference between you guys and me.

TreeBob's a good guy in any case. He's still the head ESTP no matter what you might think.
