My ESTJ husband has a great sense of humor - kind of dry and sarcastic, though he doesn't tend to be mean-spirited at all. He's actually one of the funniest people I know, in a low-key kind of way. (Low key ESTJ....hhhmmmm...)
I have a sister-in-law who I think is an ESTJ and she never seems to get jokes - she'll laugh but it's obvious it's only because other people are laughing. She also laughs at humor that doesn't do a thing for me - fart jokes, etc. (That's why the dog comment made me laugh:)) I've never really found slapstick to be amusing. She'll say something insulting and mistake it for sarcasm, which is popular with my in-laws in general. I have to say, though, I think my sister-in-law is a narcissist, so that explains her lack of humor way more than being an ESTJ. My dad was also an ESTJ and had a sparkling wit.
I also wanted to say that The Once and Future King was my favorite book when I was in 6th grade - I read it three times back to back.
I think your sis-in-law and my spouse have the same sense of humor, she can laugh her butt off watching cats on youtube
    *scenario*
We're watching a comedy movie, intended joke comes out I laugh she's silent.
Man trips and falls she's ROFL Im like yeeaaahhh?
Like @JustJac said I cant label every ESTJ to not have a sense of humor

Even though I'm not a huge fan of physical comedy, I love Mr.Bean. We were watching the Mr. Bean Christmas episode where he misinterprets his girlfriend's signals about what gift she wants, and he gets the turkey stuck on his head. It's one of the funniest things I ever saw. Sister-in-law sat there without cracking a smile through the entire show. Like she was watching golf or something. I think her husband felt like he wasn't allowed to laugh if she didn't. It was pretty freaky.

Not at all!! The last time I picked it up I thought holy crap, I can't believe I read this in 6th grade!!! It's a superb piece of literature - I think it's partly responsible for my love of reading.
I also love Hyperbole and a Half..... :)

i know some ESTJs (including my dad) and they have an awesome sense of humor. you just have to catch them when they are not in an 'i-have-to-get-this-done-now' mode...when relaxed, they can be incredibly goofy, silly, and hilarious and absolutely love to have fun.

Im married to an ESTJ love of my life is just Im not able to enjoy a comedy movie or anything that I might find funny is not funny to her.
Even though she laughs at the simplest of comedy *dog sniffs butt*
My ESTJ and I laugh at the exact opposite things, the opposite parts in movies, etc. I think our sense of humor is literally the exact opposite... It sucks!

actualy am an ENFP and I know an ESTJ , great guy realy but indeed he laughs less at my jokes than others do, he tends to understand them litteraly , take them seriously when I am just teasing ...indeed humour type vary ...as an ENFP , if lets say someone call me a "slut" , just an exemple ,and it is said to tease me and that there is no bad intention , I will laugh :-)) but I usualy Find that ESTJ will take things more on a first degree basis , more litteraly , nothing wrong with it , just an observation , I have to be carefull about humour with ESTJ s more than others usualy , but u are right it is not that you have less humour just different rules and opinion on what is acceptable from what is not , as an ENFP , I usualy make a lot of "autoderision" which is sometimes taken litteraly too ooops :-)

Meh, different people find different things funny. Just 'cause they don't laugh at the jokes you put out, doesn't mean they don't have a sense of humour.

Now, for the exciting challenge-- Finding out what their sense of humour is... JOKE MARATHON TIME!
