    Estj - istp

Is there a bit of a power struggle between these two types, particularly if the introvert is the senior of the two at work?

    Interesting thought.

    From a couple perspective:
It says on the site though that the ISTP and the ESTJ are compatible........ill double check that and grab a link.

If it makes one iota of difference:

Female ESTJ - Male ISTP (only 70% certain that he is)
Male is younger of the two
There is absolutely no chemistry between them whatsoever

I guess it depends on the case of each individual

He loves that I'll do things for him and be there if he needs me and that i plan everything. And for me he just makes me laugh ALL the time and gives me different perspectives on things. The ST part definitely makes us work really well together because it's sort of as though we're of the same mind. In most personality profiles they'll tell you that J's and P's actually go really well together because they balance each other out in the same ways that I's and E's do.
I'm still in the process of finding extra tidbits.

Not to mention I just discovered one of my child hood friends was an ISTJ! (And the ISTJ are known to be more strict than ESTJ.... at least thats what I've been reading) I think from a relationship standpoint it can go either way, however in a work environment, yes the two would get in a shit fight.

If the ESTJ doesn't think the ISTP is doing their job correctly then there may be a problem. The ISTP is not going to listen to the ESTJ just because they have an alternate way of doing things than the ISTP. The ESTJ would have to show the ISTP that they have a better, faster, more efficient way of doing the job. However, this is all in the approach of the ESTJ. If the ISTP feels like the ESTJ is trying to wrest control or do the ISTP's job then the ISTP will most likely shut down the ESTJ no matter what idea they have to hold ground and remind the ESTJ who is in charge.

On a personal note. I've never had an issue with an ESTJ. I get along with them better than most other types by far.

Brilliant answer, thanks Vroom. That is exactly what is going on in our office at the moment.
