    Father's day

    Hi,
I grew up with my single mum. I know my father and meet up with him sometime but he never contributed financially or emotionaly to my upbringing. Hence why I don't celebrate Father's.
He always bugged me how men could just walk away from an innocent child and declare "that's it". What makes it OK in their mind to not give any support to the offspring they helped created without it preventing them sleeping at night.
I know i am not an isolated case but i have never heard the other side of the story

My father was there physically, but I don't think he was there for me financially, emotionally or intellectually. He's just there, standing in a shadow of my past memories. I fail to see his real contribution in my life either. To be honest, I don't even like him. Most of the time I think I'm better off without him. I never celebrate Father's day as well. There's nothing to celebrate.

To my surprise, I'm his favorite child. Probably because of his 5 children, I'm the only one who treat him kindly and respectfully. He didn't know that I only do that out of my sense of duty and responsibility to take care of him as part of my family.

are ESTJ fathers the kind that would not tell their child they love them?

I think my dad is an STJ and he never said "I love you" growing up.
not until he hit aged to about 61... then he said it once in an old-man-emotional-outburst when he was holding his first grandchild.

It's something kids actually need to hear, you know? they dont understand "oh he got me health care so that means he loves me"

It's probably gender thing. My Dad is an INTJ. He never said he loves me either.

I think it depends a lot on how they grew up, and their cultural background, as well as their personality type. And of course men in general tend towards the less emotional side.
