Funny thing: ESFJs are usually fearless when talking to people, but you'll probably find that a lot of them start to get sea legs when they seriously like someone. Your confidence deserts you in your time of need. And again there are those that are a bit bold and will let you know to the point of zero doubt. I guess it varies.

Hello! I'm going out with an ESFJ guy.
    When he likes someone he:
    1. Tries to spend extra time with them
    2. Buys them lots of presents/suggests we exchange gifts
    3. Is physically affectionate
    4. Is hardly ever mean; he's mean to lots of other people and a result he's seen as a bit of a bully, but he was never mean to me
    5. Well, he talked to me almost everyday, without fail.

Basically, if he tries to make you a part of his everyday life, it's a sign he likes you. If you are already a big part of his life (eg you're good friends) then he'll do the presents thing + extra special treatment.

    I hope that helped!
And just to let you know, I asked him out first - then he confessed :P Maybe a little action on your part wouldn't hurt!

    1. We will be unusually concerned with our appearance around you (like if we usually wear glasses but put on contacts if we know we're going to see you).
    2. We will go out of our way to run into you (if we don't know you well) or spend time with you (if we do know you well).
    3. We will try to find things that we have in common.
    4. When talking (like by phone or online), our conversations with you can go on for hours. Usually, an ESFJ always has places to be, but if he/she willingly gives up hours of precious time to talk to you, that's a good sign.

I actually know an ESFJ guy who liked me, and for a while (a couple of months actually), I wasn't sure if he liked me or if he was just being friendly because he is friendly with everyone. . it was all the touchy flirty things like whenever he talked to me he'd lean really close and put his hand on my back, and he was always touching my arm or my shoulder or something. I knew he talked to me more than he did other girls, but I thought it was just because we were friends and had similar schedules and saw each other a lot. Turns out he actually did really like me, and it was no accident that he was being more flirty with me than with other people. The difference is subtle, but it's true, the ESFJs really do wear their hearts on their sleeves, and if you pay attention you will be able to see the difference. Either way, ESFJs make awesome friends and are fun to flirt with :)

So true. One of my closest friends is and ESFJ, and after a while I knew he liked me, but he never said or did anything about it, even though I liked him back and I knew he knew it . . then one day out of the blue he held my hand, told me he'd been scared to do so for forever, and told me point blank, "I really really like you." Those exact words. So, yeah, sea legs for months and then all of a sudden just told me in a zero-doubt sort of way.

If we like the person: We float around in a blissful haze for a while and annoy our friends by talking endlessly about it. Depending on how shy we are, we may or may not make a move. I realized my boyfriend was into me a few weeks before he actually told me, and those were a lovely few weeks. Of course, I was super bashful and afraid to make a move, so I was just waiting for him to tell me. Once he told me, I immediately said yes, and later after he left, danced around in gleeful circles.

If we don't like the person: We'll usually still feel flattered and then try to figure out the most tactful way to let them down. Our desire to make others happy will wrestle with our fear of confrontation. In my case, I tend to avoid the person like the plague until I think their feelings have cooled down. I know it's immature, but I couldn't bear continuing to spend time with them and leading them on, but at the same time, I don't have the balls to confront them directly about it. Avoiding them becomes my natural reaction.

    INTJ - The Scientists

I had an ESFJ coworker interested in me a while back. She never bluntly said, "I like you", but she made it clear in no uncertain terms, after a brief initial period of shyness. When we were introduced at work, I nodded at her and said "hi", and she took a look at me and started giggling. She would try to make smalltalk with me, with hilariously awkward results due to my INTJness.

After she stopped being shy she went down the usual list of flirting behaviors. She would laugh in an exaggeratedly feminine way at even the most unfunny things I said. She would make eyes at me, stare at me, etc. Sometimes when she was speaking to me, she would turn her body slightly away from me and tilt her head back toward me. She was always trying to get me to touch her hands; she would complain about how she hurt them somehow and hold them out toward me plaintively, find an excuse to high-five me, etc. Then she started inviting me to her apartment, under the pretext of watching a football game, or to try her famous guacamole, or because her roommate was out of town and her neighbor was doing renovation work that sometimes made noises that sounded like gunshots.

She told a couple of my guy friends and her girl friends at work about her attraction, and word spread from there until pretty much everyone we worked with knew about it, including my ESTP boss, who found the whole thing amusing for some reason. He would try to get me to flirt with her when the three of us were working on something, with more hilariously awkward results. I think she told my guy friends because she knew I was a reserved fellow and wanted them to feel out how I would respond to her advances.

    And that's my story.

forgot before: flirt. make longer eye contact than normal. if has an fb, find you on facebook. find a way to talk to you outside of normal activities. get you to want to hang out...(described myself) but as an esfj, i can make you want me, but im not gonna be a slore about it. i do act within the "reserved" range. but I'm charming so that probably makes things interesting ;] all in all, ill basically show my best side. start giving to get.

I'm reading through some of these replies and a lot of them sound like how I plan to show someone I like them but I'm an SP.

I find it hard to determine whether an ESFJ likes someone or not because the ESFJs I know DO tend to give people affection, time and are touchy feely with most people. So if they do show you those traits doesn't necessarily mean they like you. I also think a lot of ESFJ's play "mind games" with people. They do something to see a person's reaction. For what? To collect data? lol. Or it could just be me reading what isn't there lol
