ENTPs, do you like your type?

I love being an ENTP. I get the feeling that other ENTPs love being ENTPs.

I know there are no "best types", but maybe the way that ENTPs are set up they are just attracted to their type the most.

Or maybe it's that ENTP is an attractive type to have? That we simply have a preponderance of traits other types lack, so we seem more desirable? This wouldn't explain why ENTPs love themselves though. So yeah, I'm throwing it out to you all.

And hey, maybe I'm wrong, maybe ENTPs just pretend to love themselves

    Yeah... I get you, totally.

A couple of years ago I had family members dying, the rest of my family became clinically depressed, lots of hospital visits, family member got a sex change, lots of money problems, etc.

But I just smiled at the world. It was a pretty shitty place to be, but I was able to deal with it pretty easily. People thought I was hiding all my stress, that I would crack. But I wasn't, and I didn't.

Recently I had a stressful situation because I was very alone. But now that I'm aware of that problem I don't think it will happen again

I work with an ENTP and he absolutely loves himself. I wondered why he's bothered dating anyone, and came to the conclusion it's because he can't marry himself. I also think he believes that he descended from the heavens simply to be awesome everywhere he goes.

We've had a conversation about this before. I said I over emphasize my flaws so I know what to work on and fix, and he's told me he over emphasizes his strengths to motivate himself and to better them. Dunno though, we aren't incredibly close.

Psilo, while I like myself and my type it's not narcissistic or anything. There is a fine line though, and it sounds like your colleague needs to work on his humility :P

There's that difference between liking and being content with yourself and thinking your some perfect being, which is soundly ridiculous.

All this ENTP ass slapping is cute and fun, but we already know that we think our type is awesome. What I want to know is why we think being ENTP is awesome.

I still think it's just how our psyche is set up. While we admire and appreciate other types, we want for ourselves the qualities we already possess. Anyone dis/agree?

One of my best friends is an ENTP, and he definitely loves his personality. When I talk to him about any problems I'm having, his advice for me will inevitably be to try to be more like him.
... hmmm, then again I suppose when he comes to me with problems I usually give him advice that says he should try to be more like me. We tend to have very different problems. :o)

I guess I would agree with you though - you ENTPs really do seem to prefer the qualities you already have. It's interesting though, because it's not like you're all identical. I've seen ENTPs get really get annoyed by other ENTPs!

A few reasons why being an ENTP is awesome:
    - We are supreme optimists and problem solvers so we are great to have around when the chips are down. Not only will we infect others with our energy, we'll also supply 5-10 possible solutions - ALL AWESOME - to said problem
    - We can flip the silly/goofy switch to serious/thought provoking so fast that it makes other types head spin and explode.
    - We are benevolent enough to only use our head explosion powers for good, unless that person really really deserves it.

For the most part, yes, but others peoples opinions get to me from time to time.
