    Multiple-Intelligences

Hey there! I'm brand new to this site but I've been reading a lot lately about the theory of Multiple-Intelligences (different types of intelligence like verbal-linguistic, visual-spatial, etc) and I was wondering which of these you would all associate the closest with the ENTP type? Sorry if this has been discussed before!

My strongest intelligence is definitely verbal-linguistic.

Based on the fact that TE is dominated by the left brain hemisphere, TE's would be naturally good at language, logical-mathematical, spatial, and kinesthetic. They would have to work their musical, interpersonal, and intrapersonal, as well as naturalistic, as these all require creativity/intuition, all dominated by the right hemisphere. But not too hard, as they do have these as their natural second function. This is why ENTJ's are so talented. Its not because they have this mysterious motivation that pushes them harder than everyone else. No. Their motivation is the same as anyone's. But they simply cover the spectrum of intelligence more so than any other personality type, so they achieve more.

And really any combo of N and T this holds true, its just most observable in ENTJ's because the dominant left hemisphere emphasizes the rational, realistic, practical worldy direction, so its much easier to observe.

You do know that in the statistics of "giftedness" ENTJs are the least gifted of the NTs? Whatever "giftedness" is... I find the whole thing ridiculous.

Also, the drive is heavily correlated to results on tests such as intelligence tests. ENTJs are a bit single minded (Js) and thus focused as hell and target-oriented. I believe that is why they accomplish much. Some new research also indicates that most people with extremely high "intelligence/ability" never live up to their potential. Perhaps they just see through the thin veils of what makes up "success" in our society?

ENTJs that I know are intelligent, efficient and normative (fitting in into organizations and systems, wanting to control people through them). But NOT reflective and wise... Wisdom is something else... Pointing to what you should do with your life and what is important. Among other things.

Of course such ENTJs exist, as well as ISTJ ones... But this is my generalization from my life experience and also having an ENTJ brother.

EDIT: Check my footer for my values. Interestingly, I work a lot with illustration and science.... Given that my Visual is on my lower spectra. Also, I am a Martial art instructor. I guess I have worked on my weak spots then...;-)

I'm sure we lean toward one type or another, but I'd say it's nigh impossible to say it's a high percentage chance on either. Take a look at mine, for instance. My interpersonal is very high. Others that you'd think to be aren't as high.

What do you train? Plus most of the ENTPs I know at least tried some martial arts including myself. But to be honest I have hard time to stick to something for long enough to get at least black belt (taekwondo is the closest one 4th kup) so this is sort of great thing that you are an instructor and I would say it cures our weaknesses pretty well like respect for others without being logically proved, routines (time of trainings, repetition, patterns (however I always mess them up on purpose haha)).

Being an instructor for you definitely feeds your verbal, interpersonal, kinesthetic intelligences :) I think my TKD (taekwondo) instructor is an ENTP as well. Hi has great presence, improvisation skills, random jokes, sees opportunities for improvement even after his ass has been kicked in a free sparing :) and probably is the main reason why I'm coming back on TKD trainings again and again :) I bet you doing great with your students.

I am highly into music. Not just listening... playing/singing as well.... Very much into musical "improvisation". I have a hard time reading notes but guessing what follows as a note is much easier to me. Also I improvise background vocals very easily. It sounds just "logical" to me. And my friends are amazed with that ability. I read somewhere it has to do with Ti that make you sense the right/wrong notes that goes together or not.

Well, I founded the club here, and many people have told me that they train because the instructors/students are such good and humble people. So I guess I do alright.

I do a Swdish-invented form of Kempo, heavily influenced by Kung Fu and japanese style Jitsu. But the heart of its core is the philosophy of self defense, so we do not compete (there are of course K1/MMA for those unfortunates). I would say that what makes me stick to it is that it is built on a sort of "scientific" system. The innovator compared all martial arts and found that you could boil down ALL martial arts to just a few basic techniques that the differing styles use slightly different. Also, we aim not to permanently damage ourt opponent, but to render them unconscious or subdue them in a "humane" but quite efficient way. So, no eye pokes or crushed larynxes, or shattered kneecaps. We aim for the weak spots and pressure points.

The aim for our style is to teach ALL known principles of how to twist hands, arms, legs, kick & punch (mainly just one punch: then apply tool) and also grappling. But when it comes to grappling we dont do competition grappling that is based on rules. Our grappling has two goals: 1) Avoid getting grappled on the ground by someone who wants it (and is good at it probably) or 2) Strangle/incapacitate the opponent immediately using blood starngulation and pain to accomplish it.

We did have an MMA guy that has competed for three years coming. He was in awe how we took him down. But his stamina and physique is so much better so when he learns the tricks he will win. There is a huge difference between doing competition stuff and effective stuff. Rules do not exist on the street.
