A quick count of my music library comes in at 2318 songs. Most of the music I listen to is instrumental. However, out of the music I have that has vocals, it shocked me when I actually thought about how biased it is towards male vocalists. There's clearly a link between the genre/style of music and the gender of vocalist, but I thought it would be a fun poll to see if this is a trend that is common among this sort of personality type. I'm gonna try to create this thread in different forums to see if there is any pattern emerging. Thanks for voting!

Most people seem to be biased toward male vocals if they have tastes outside of pop music. Somehow, it's difficult for a group with female vocals to escape the pop genre -- kind of sad. In any case, I tend to find it easier to enjoy male vocals, mostly because I like the deeper, richer, more unassuming sounds as opposed to the often over-the-top sounds most female singers provide.

I wish there were more female vocalists outside of Lady Gaga type BS. Of the groups with female vocalists who aren't in pop, I've liked them all. I'm really into this band right now, I'm impressed with how they managed to sing over Zappa style atonal jazz riffs. Awesome stuff, plus she's hot.

I much prefer male vocalists, but I do have a few female vocalists. I don't listen to Lady Gaga pop-trash but I have found some good female vocals.

The Hush Sound (huge guilty pleasure of mine), Fiest, Regina Spektor, Fiona Apple, Sophie Madeleine, Fever Ray, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. All have some pretty good female vocals in their songs.
