I think its time we had an honest discussion about the personality type of fictional characters. Mostly because its fun and to explore how different characters complement each other or how they don't. Or how certain types are more common in main characters than others. These fictional characters can be wide ranging. From Hannah Montana to Tom and Jerry and Jay Gatsby to Harry Potter. The possibilities are endless!
I've actually been really interested in finding one of these forums. I have a few characters I would like to have typed, but I think I'll have to read up on the types more before I type any. If anyone can type any of the following, please do so.
-Captain Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribbean)
-The Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Doctor (Doctor Who)
-River Song (Doctor Who)
-Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin (Ouran High School Host Club)
-Kyouya Ootori (Ouran High School Host Club)
I can't remember most of them right now, but if anyone can type these ones, it would be greatly appreciated.
I think the general consensus on Captain Jack Sparrow is that he's an ENTP, which makes me happy-- I love him. Every time I watch that movie I get an excitement high and want to go out and have an adventure. Especially his last line-- Now bring me that horizon! Makes me want to go out and buy a boat or something (which wouldn't do me much good since I live in the middle of the desert...).
My favorite fictional ENTP is Shawn Spencer from Psych (as you might be able to tell from my sig). He has the kind of personality I've always wanted for myself-- carefree and fun yet still a lot more intelligent than he lets on. I've gotten closer to that ideal as I've gotten older, but I'm still not quite as outgoing as him. Maybe another year or two...
_Captain Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribbean) ESTP
-The Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Doctor (Doctor Who) AXCP
-River Song (Doctor Who) IRTP
-Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin (Ouran High School Host Club) EFVB
-Kyouya Ootori (Ouran High School Host Club) WPEÑ
If we are typing fictional characters, certainly i can use fictional types.
Well, damn. I had a good reply, but my computer hates me...so now you get the abbreviated version.
@Devin87 - I <3 Shawn Spencer. Really. I love him. I want to meet the person who came up with his character and have his babies...maybe.
I'm new to the whole typing people thing, but I just watched Thank You For Smoking and I'm pretty sure Aaron Eckhart's character is an ENTP. He's callous without meaning to be, extremely extraverted, manipulative, the only person he overtly cares about is his son, has a moral code that fluctuates with his frame of mind, etc. I might be wrong. He might be a fucked up ENFP...or a fucked up ENTJ...but I lean more towards ENTP for him. Thoughts?
Thoughts on Tea from Skins US? I get ENTP vibes but that's likely because I too am ENTP. Any other ideas?
Also Summer from 500 Days of Summer?
And Betty and Don from Madmen?
who cares to type jesus? I think he would be ENTP/J. E is a given N because he believed to be the son of God and he was always in a world of his fabrication, T is because he had to think but you could argue F, and P and J are also up to argument. anyways I'm not good at typing....
I would agree with the typically accepted notion that Jesus Christ was/is an INFJ. I think of how he sat and pondered on the steps of the temple (he made a whip... that takes quite a while) and then lashed out and overturned the tables of the money-changers. To me, this expresses Ni then Fe. I also think about how he sat pondering outside the city walls expressing his grief "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!" This is very refelctive (Ni) and feeling (Fe).
As far as introversion over extraversion, i cannot see Jesus as an extravert. He was a very reflective and reactive individual. Very very seldom did he initiate with an indiavidual or group without having a pre-meditated purpose. And when he did talk to a group, it was with a globally reaching objective. HE was more interested in saving the whole world than anything else. This is a very infj kind of mindset to have.
Im sure there is a ton more evidence, but i dont want to go grab a book or anything. lol.
