Ever lay on your back and look up at the stars? I did this last night while talking on the phone and found it an amazing experience. Some look to other people for comfort. Last night I rediscovered why I look up and stargaze. It's a form of sublime relaxation.

What do you do to relax?

sit on a large chunk of granite on the Moor and imagine I can feel the huge animal that lives beneath it breathing......
...stare out of the window at trees, and birds, and people, and look at all of the different things moving on different timescales, and wonder how I look to them....

Run. I find that physical exercise eases my racing mind for a bit.
Read/Research. This can both energize/relax me depending on the material.
Write/Draw. These are my catharses when I'm feeling overly emotional and find difficulty coping.
Nature always has a way of relaxing me deep down

Drinking while listening to jazz music outside with a group of friends, that's the best.

Listen to music, go for a walk.

Though every time I'm outside in the evening, I can't help but look up at the stars. I love them. It's like a brush with reality. We're so small and insignificant... Pretty awesome. Yeah.. Perfect date would basically end in the back of a truck bed under the stars... mmm (: ... 'cept I don't like bugs. :P

If I'm hella worked up though - like after getting in a little bumper cars accident on 280, or fighting with my parents for a solid hour or so straight about my future, I'll take a hit or two just so I can sleep. But that's only happened twice. ... and I just mentioned both...

Yes I do lie on my back and look up at the stars! Well, usually I sit because the ground is cold. But I find this incredibly relaxing, going out in the quiet of night, looking up at the galaxy, smoking a cigarette, just relaxing. And also like others have mentioned, running is very relaxing for me. It's good for mellowing out my state of mind. I've always wanted to be able to meditate but I can't shut myself off just like that ....

Watch tv. Get out of the house. Go to a coffe shop. Surf the internet. Breathe. Go somewhere where there are a lot of hot girls and try to get into their pants. If that fails I'll go home and slap the monkey.

Lying on my back and watching the stars is fun when I'm out away from the city. There's way too much light pollution here to even see the stars though.

Especially when it's warm outside and I can be naked while doing it.
