my entp dad thinks he's no good

my dad is entp and in his 50's he started a job about a year ago but he told me he thinks he is going to be fired tomorrow for forgetting to do this that and the other. he's so pissed off with himself for forgetting. he's always forgetting. i told him he obviously isn't cut out to do a job that requires him to always remember little details but he's lost heart and i'd just like to ask is there anything i could say to him to get him back on track.

he's had various businesses not work out for him in the past. are there any ventures that anyone knows about that i could mention to him to get him feeling passionate about life again?

will i take it from the lack of responses that entp's don't care about helping each other?

well fuck the lot of ye! i just sat him down there and gave him a joint and showed him how he's an entp and what he needs to do to make a new business venture work i.e. listen to people when they are talking sense!

now all we need to do is find a business idea.

    enfp; 100 million points

    entp; zero points.

I'm not ENTP, but perhaps he needs a management position that allows his creativity to flourish? Is that within his reach?

yeah maybe. but with the recession and all i don't know how easy it would be to find one. after talking to him tonight tho i think i may have helped him turn a new corner in terms of how he sees his place in the world. with the right attitude it's possible to achieve anything. he was being all downcast and said he is useless that all he is is a bluffer but i made him see that is one of his strenghts. he had never thought of it that way before. jesus i'm amazing maybe i should start my own motivational workshop! get my dad to go around to failing businesses and bluff his way into getting them to pay me money to improve their profit margins.

Well to be fair you started this thread at 10.30pm and then wondered at 12pm why you had to answers! Not the best times to ask! Generally during the day when we are all procratinating off work is best!

Yeah so he is gonna get fired for his in ability to remember details. No easy way round it its sink or swim. He either has to learn a technique to remember details or get a new job. Tell him to go into some where more creative where his Ideas can be used. Tbh it sounds like he is in a shite job.

Hes 50 you said? so he muct have some skills gimme more info to work with!

ha ha i was only jesting telling ye to fuck yerselves.

thanks cj for the reply. well my dad has worked at various jobs in the past. he was a welder, he worked for the council for years as a fitter then quit to become a mechanic at a kart track, he invented something to do with karts, sold a few i think. then he started his own business importing cigarette machines ( we live in ireland he imported them from canada after seeing them on holiday over there) his business was going well for a number of years til john player bought out the company and ceased making the machines. he was kinda lost after that. he worked as a security guard for a while which he hated, a mechanic restoring vintage cars, and now this job which has something to do with health and safety and securing deals with businesses.

he said he has learned he needs to write things down in order to remember them but then there is the problem of remembering to write them down. i have the same problem myself i am always getting myself into trouble for forgetting stuff. do other entp's have this problem or is it just us who are defective in our ability to remember boring stuff that needs doing?

is there anything that u as an entp has heard about recently that has got u excited? i think something to get him excited again might take him out of his funk.

Maybe ENTPs weren't online at the moment, like me.

I might be late, didn't check out the time, but the ideal thing to do would be taking the appropriate approach for any ENTP: Take an idea, such as "make a checklist", and rationalize... it'd solve the issue, why, and why it's not bad to implement it.

Also, explaining that he feels bad and it might be for a myriad of reasons out of his control and that have nothing to do with work, such as chemicals in the body doing whatnot, will help get over it. I hope.

Would like to start own business, strong mechanic skills and background, speaking skills that aim at a strong salesperson... sounds like a good set to start a car remodeling business or some simmilar thing, where you either mod stuff for customers or buy stuff, work on it, then sell it at a better price.
