    ENTP - Best friend?

Everyone talks about who would be best as far as romantic relationships go, but who makes a good best friend?

I'm wondering because I really don't have one. I have issues with deciding on who to let into that area because it's just as sacred as, if not more than, a lover. Romantic relationships are more likely to come and go, so to have a constant ( which I've never in my life had ) would be excellent. I'm also iffy because nothing is ever concrete for me, so why waste my time putting my all into it, you know?

Anyway, this refers to me personally because I would love to know what to look for once I get to college ( last year of high school, thank god! ) and I do plan on traveling. A lot. And while traveling alone isn't terrible, it'd be a lot more fun to have someone to share that with.

BUT at the same time, this is a relative question. I know not everyone fits the personality type to a tee and I also know that that isn't the only deciding factor.

So from a purely MBTI personality type point of view, who makes a good best friend for an ENTP?

i'd say intp from my experience with entps.

but from a formal point of view, professionals have researched this as well:

    I'm not sure but I'm guessing no-one??? That's a sad hypothesis... hope I'm wrong

The INTP idea sounds like a good one, but I think I'm a bit too... boisterous, I guess you could say, for an INTP.

Once the ball got rolling, I bet it would be amazing, but how would that even get started?

My current best-friend (or I should say former...he's too busy being a frat boy) is an ISTP, I believe. And before that was an ESTP. INTP works too though.

What I need and what I want are 2 different things

    I would need and esfj.
    I would want an intp.

My current best friend is an intp.

Okay, the ESFJ thing confuses me.

I don't see it happening. At all.

    I'm guessing ENFP and INTP.

One of my best friends is an ENTP.

My husband is an INTJ, and the three of us have a lot of fun together.

It's interesting you say that it's difficult to decide who to let into that area. My ENTP friend has a very small A-list group of best friends, and the rest are B-listers.

I get along really, really well with INTJs and ENTJs. I like other ENTPs, don't get me wrong, but sometimes it can get overwhelming because our dynamic causes a loss in connection to reality, and a tendency to try to "out-ENTP" one another. Things just get a little weird. I've never met an INTP, so that MIGHT work, but I know that ENTJs and INTJs and I ALWAYS get along well. I've never met one I didn't like; we simply seem to mesh in ways inexplicable and keep one another grounded. We just GET each other. If I find someone with whom I truly connect on all levels, he or she is without a doubt an xNTJ. It's uncanny!

I actually get along swimmingly with ESTPs, too. When we get together, craziness ensues; we bring out the cynical, society-hating, spontaneous, egotistical, superiority-complex-laden side of one another. It seems odd, but if you hang out with us or try to take part in our conversations, you forever feel that you are missing some important bit of information, or that you're on the outside of some great joke. It's a fascinating phenomenon, really...
