    ENTPs - Mistyped by Others?

Anyone else have problems (relative term) with NFs thinking that you are a sensor rather than intuitive? Or, at least, something other than an ENTP? My INFP friend keeps thinking that I'm an ESTP, and she suspects that a good friend of ours, whose myers-brigg's results were ENTP too, is also an ESTP. Oddly, we are all friends with a true ESTP, and there are similarities for sure, but I still see a clear difference. Not sure why she doesn't. Additionally, my brother is an ESTP, and my family sees a HUGE difference between us. An INFJ friend of mine also questioned my intuition, but she doesn't know much about Myers-Briggs.

Can any other ENTPs relate? I'm trying to figure out if this is a common mistake people make when trying to type us, and if it has anything to do with *who* is trying to type us

I think it's the dominant Ne which easilys mimicks Se. Ne inspires one to seek experiences - accumulating all of them to develop multiple perspectives, which is similiar to Se's indulgance of experiences for /what they are/.

: ) I had someone go "You're a smart intuitive ESTP" and than I popped out some imagination and they changed their tune. I've had people tell me I was ENTJ. I've even had people tell me I was INTJ & INTP.

I've been mistaken for an ESFP. Does that count? And also, NFs seeem to have trouble reading me in general.

When I am being mistyped, people will usually tell me that I'm an I, or a J - but never an S.. (or f). These are ofc people who know a little about mbti to begin with, so maybe they are seeing that indeed: my e, and my p are only moderately expressed.

I personally have noticed a lot of ENTPs who seem only marginally Ne though. Maybe that is whats going on with them typing you as ESTP. ExTP? Sports bars and easy wimmin? :x Jk jk!

I really don't think I could be mistyped as anything now except maybe INTP by people who aren't too knowledgeable about MBTI. I used to be an INFP though (I think).

Not me Prom. I cheer for my football team at home, and I don't even really care. Its just that its my team. Don't really watch the game until I hear my ESTP brother or INTJ father screaming. INTJs can get really loud.

I'm not really into sports at all. I tried wrestling in middle. I found it boring, and when I broke my arm ice skating and got a break from it. I just never went back. I went to math club instead.

The only sport I'd be interested in is martial arts, and not that sissy martial arts they show on MMA. Rules? WTF. I want to see some actual fighting where people use their skills to the best of their ability. Fights where not only bronze but brains come into play.

So, yeah. I have the NT curse of really not being into sports.

An ESTP coworker, who I know too well, is clearly a different breed than me. I don't know anyone who understands MBTI, so I don't get mistyped by default. The biggest difference between the ESTP and myself to a third party observer would be the constant story telling by the ESTP, particularly about previous personal experiences. The ENTP has more of a focus on the future. Maybe your similarity is the interest in their stories and banter. Has anyone else noticed this difference?

I think that both my brother (ESTP) and I tell stories, although he's better at it than I, but the big difference is that he is a content person and I am constantly analyzing everyone and everything, and always feel unsettled. I have more patience for, and in fact love to discuss things that aren't in my day-to-day world. He can talk about this stuff with me, but gets bored much, much quicker than I do. I get a little obsessive. Also, he has much more patience for details and physical activity or work than I do.

My brother is ESTP. He plays video games, loves sports, and hates reading.

What a very fun and simple life he must leave while I'm constantly thinking about things, and fucking with my own head.
