    Rant ON!

GAH!!!! I get so annoyed sometimes by the little things people do at work... I just needed to vent a moment.

So, I'm trying to implement a new centralized staffing & scheduling business model in an organization that does not like or want change, the departments I work with have been under the same processes and practices for 20 years and see nothing wrong with keeping that going... anyway...

I am the system admin/config for our scheduling software, but an IT person is the system admin/config for the root system/financial component. There are pieces that are built in the root system that I don't have access to, so I send her a message telling her that I need a supervisor given a particular setting so they will work in my component of the software.

She proceeds to email me asking me why it's needed, why is she different, what access profile should she have (note: She is the one who build access profiles - not me) and through the back and forths - about four emails where I just end each one saying... I need her to have the license. I need her to have the license. I don't care what view she is in, she can stay the same. She shouldn't care about that issue as it has nothing to do with her.... blah blah blah In the end she just says, oh, well, I don't have an access profile for her. I say, ok, great, build one so she can have the license... OMG, it took like 2 hours of useless, unnecessary messages to answer questions that she didn't understand and didn't impact anything - no security issues, no privacy issues, no system integrity issues... it was just a friggin setting to initiate a license. *bangs head on wall* She does that to me with every single request I make. Why can't she just do what I need her to do when it doesn't impact privacy, security, the system, etc?

Then, an employee requests a certain payment to be given to them for what they think they are owed, the employee is wrong. I send a message to the employee breaking out exactly how their pay for the shift would be structured. I then forward the email to the manager and say, please review and will you be able to talk to the employee before payroll... the employee was saying they should get 4 hours of time and a half and per the hours worked, she only gets 3. The manager didn't look at the email I sent to the employee and emailed me with an "you are incorrect" blah blah email... because she didn't friggin read the email. Why can't people actually read an email anymore? Why can't they review material presented especially when it's being requested that the information should be used when speaking to the employee? When I clarified for the manager... she then wrote back saying that I worded my message to her in a way that made her think one thing... even though if she had scrolled like an inch, she would have seen very clear and precise information. It's only like the 10th email from that manager complaining about something, not understanding something or being otherwise snippy.... she's really pissing me off.

Ok, got that out, now I feel better. Have a nice Friday :)

    My turn:

So I just started working with this small CPA firm as an auditor. Little did I know I would be teamed up with a seasoned idiot.

Has anyone ever felt the sudden urge to start bashing faces in? If I wasn't civilized my elbow would currently be considered a lethal weapon.

This past week I was auditing a client and discovered errors in our paperwork that went unnoticed for three years. THREE YEARS. How is it that I, fresh out of college for only 3 weeks, can somehow miraculously discover errors? It amazes me, and so does the brain capacity of my coworker.

I am at a loss of words for her incompetence. We were auditing payroll and I, once again, discovered an error in our auditing procedures. To put it in simple terms, we were supposed to compare part A to part B. Part A was what should have been done and Part B was what was actually done. WHY THE HELL DID SHE NOT UNDERSTAND YOU CAN'T COMPARE PART A WITH PART A!? I was led to believe we had documentation for Part A and B but upon further investigation we didn't. Why am I the one uncovering all these stupid errors? INCOMPETENCE!!! I swear I had to explain this Part A = Part A crap like a million times before it seeped through her thick skull.

After working there for 3 weeks, I have noticed I instinctively zone out whenever Ms. Beef-For-Brains opens her mouth.

    Must....get....out...of....here....

How about the chronic. paranoid worriers. Yikes, I am not a mommy. There is a plan and a time line and things will get done according to the plan. There is no need to freak out over things. SO can everyone relax now. I'm spending more time and energy calming a few people down than I am working on the project.

Maybe I should just hand out bottles of Valium and Prozac.

Had to wait for an hour and a half for everyone to get ready to go out. When a time is set to leave the house, leave the house at that scheduled time not 90 minutes later.
