GAH!!!! I get so annoyed sometimes by the little things people do at work... I just needed to vent a moment.
So, I'm trying to implement a new centralized staffing & scheduling business model in an organization that does not like or want change, the departments I work with have been under the same processes and practices for 20 years and see nothing wrong with keeping that going... anyway...
I am the system admin/config for our scheduling software, but an IT person is the system admin/config for the root system/financial component. There are pieces that are built in the root system that I don't have access to, so I send her a message telling her that I need a supervisor given a particular setting so they will work in my component of the software.
She proceeds to email me asking me why it's needed, why is she different, what access profile should she have (note: She is the one who build access profiles - not me) and through the back and forths - about four emails where I just end each one saying... I need her to have the license. I need her to have the license. I don't care what view she is in, she can stay the same. She shouldn't care about that issue as it has nothing to do with her.... blah blah blah In the end she just says, oh, well, I don't have an access profile for her. I say, ok, great, build one so she can have the license... OMG, it took like 2 hours of useless, unnecessary messages to answer questions that she didn't understand and didn't impact anything - no security issues, no privacy issues, no system integrity issues... it was just a friggin setting to initiate a license. *bangs head on wall* She does that to me with every single request I make. Why can't she just do what I need her to do when it doesn't impact privacy, security, the system, etc?
Then, an employee requests a certain payment to be given to them for what they think they are owed, the employee is wrong. I send a message to the employee breaking out exactly how their pay for the shift would be structured. I then forward the email to the manager and say, please review and will you be able to talk to the employee before payroll... the employee was saying they should get 4 hours of time and a half and per the hours worked, she only gets 3. The manager didn't look at the email I sent to the employee and emailed me with an "you are incorrect" blah blah email... because she didn't friggin read the email. Why can't people actually read an email anymore? Why can't they review material presented especially when it's being requested that the information should be used when speaking to the employee? When I clarified for the manager... she then wrote back saying that I worded my message to her in a way that made her think one thing... even though if she had scrolled like an inch, she would have seen very clear and precise information. It's only like the 10th email from that manager complaining about something, not understanding something or being otherwise snippy.... she's really pissing me off.
Ok, got that out, now I feel better. Have a nice Friday :)

6Thanks
