Sure. Haven't these been quantified from experience already? The BP oil spill is going to end up with an estimated amount of 200,000 tons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico. There was a Mexican rig that blew in 1979 that spilled 460,000 tons. Where was the apocalypse? Even worse, Saddam Hussein, who was every progressive's favorite dictator back in the day (because of his secularism, perhaps?), deliberately spilled 1,200,000 tons of oil into the Persian Gulf in 1991. It wasn't pretty, but it wasn't the apocalypse.isn't the bigger issue that long term consequences of having oil spilling out the ecosystem
So I'm strongly skeptical of claims about our "delicate ecosystem" and our "Earth in the balance." There are stupid movies like Avatar that make it sound like mother nature is gonna getcha if you do her wrong. But where's the proof?
