How Did You Decide on Your Tritype?

Please explain the process you used/why you chose the tritype that you did, etc.

I've identified my core type as 5, but I'm unsure of how to go about figuring out my tritype. And hopefully this will help others who are confused, as well.

Filling the questionnaire in the apposite subforum helped me a lot figuring my tritype. For example, I used to mistype as a Four because of my sensitivity and moodiness, then I realized that I'm actually a core 3. :) You could start from there...

Easy. I decided not to believe in it:D
I considered that although my behaviour might be like the other types, my motives/fears were still of my main type. And any behaviour I was attributing to another type could actually be explained by my main type and my environment.
Of course this isn't very helpful to those who might get some use out of tri-types.

Short answer: I still don't know mine.

In case you don't know, you take the highest score from the head types (5,6,7), the heart types (2,3,4) and the gut (8,9,1) types. I took several tests and read descriptions from different sites to see what fit me best.

The two tests below are pretty good for a start and helped me figure out my type. I usually scored high on 4, 5, and 6 but usually the most on 5. Learning about tritypes also helped me learn about other types.

    Type 6w5

I didn't decide on my tritype, nor did I choose it. You can't really do either. It just fits, I guess.

I ended up on mine because it was pretty apparent that I am a 6w5 with a 1 fix sliding in at a close second. The image fix was the last one. I originally thought it was a 2, but ultimately it was a 4. I think that you can figure out any of your fixes as well as your core type, the moment you are willing to be honest with yourself. So many people on this site have the false images of who they are that don't line up with what they actually do, and they literally aren't even cognizant of it. "I'm a pretty drama hating type of person and I stay away from situations that are dramatic because they are stressful". <--but this same person is always causing/in the middle of drama and yet they don't see themselves this way.

Edit: Also, my process was filling out the questionnaire of the type me sub forum and having others take an objective look at it and give me your feedback. I say, if you don't want other peoples opinion, don't bother posting a type me thread. It can help you, if you're willing to be honest with yourself, but if not then its a huge waste of time.

Edit 2: Lastly, I would recommend you looking at your behavior, and the reasons why you engage in said behavior. Don't trust your own conscious evaluation of your behavior because like I said, it can be incorrect. I knew 2 wasnt the right image fix for me because I didnt project the giving image of a 2. The fact that I was stuck in my ways and had this "take it or leave it, but it ain't changin'" attitude definitely solidified 4 as an image fix. My recognition of my morals and standards (and the anger and resentment behind all that) pretty much locked in 1 as my gut fix. Its really easy to get rid of some of the fixes. For example, I knew that 9, 7 and 3 weren't in my tritype at all. No way no how. Start with process of elimination, and go from there. You can usually eliminate at least one type from each triad.

no no no. do not rely on a test! they suck

    @OP
7w6: took me awhile to decide between 7w6 and 7w8, but I am clearly not a 5 or 6 fixer
1w?: looking back, I'm starting to consider 1w9 instead of 1w2, but after I really thought about it 1 fix was obvious. I can look a lot like an 8 fixer, but much more controlled and JUSTICE driven (and I'm not a 9 fixer. they're wimpy lol)
3w4: this fix was the hardest to figure out. it's obvious I'm not a 2 fixer, and I think I'm too emotionally controlled and not sensitive enough to be a 4 fixer so it was between 3w2 and 3w4, and I do not relate to 3w2 at all. 3w4 works though, I have the cold, icy exterior (sometimes. more often than your typical 7w6 would at least lol), the snob tendencies and a tendency to not settle for mediocrity

    Type 9w8

Two were easy to pick because they were so clearly my motivations etc, the last I went with because it seemed like the closest of 3 poor choices and I didn't care to look any deeper as I saw no value.

    Type 6w7

I thought at first I was an 3w4, and I also related to being an 9w8. It's as simple as that, but finding my core type was much harder. I just feel I give off more of a friendly vibe with the 7 wing.

1 and 4 were the only ones I made snide nicknames for.

Okay, that's not how I figured it out, but looking back, that should have been a big hint. This is how it happened:

5w6 - Tested as a 5, it was eerily accurate, and reading about the other types, it definitely fit me best. Thought I might be a 5w4 until I found better descriptions of the wings than "art vs science" and learned more about Type 6 and more about phobic vs counterphobic. 5 with a counterphobic 6 wing fits me perfectly.

1w9 - Nicknamed half-jokingly "self-righteous stick-in-the-ass." Among the head types, I related to 1 the most. I'm definitely not a 9, and while I have a draw to 8 (point of integration), it was easy to rule out by its core motivations. Really, 1 fits so well, that if there were no Type 5, I would have be this type. Picking w2 vs w9 involved reading about each type and looking at all the descriptions of the wings I could find.

4w5 - Nicknamed half-jokingly "annoying special snowflakes." Among the heart types, it was no contest. Learning about tritypes and finding I have a 4-fix helped clear up why I kept looking at 5w4 even though I'd settled on being a 5w6. I assumed that I would be 4w3, since I already had 5 in my tritype (it's just not tidy, damnit), but reading about the wings cleared it up. Also realized my perfectionist streak was from my 1-fix and had nothing to do with 3.
    Wake thanked this post.
