    Exercise nuts

The king of dreams started a great thread about exercise and I thought I might try and expand it abit!

Was wondering if there are any crossfit ENFP's out there?
(for those that don't know what cross fit is, basically a hardcore training program that incorporates cardio and weight lifting! No other athletic program like it!
Welcome to CrossFit: Forging Elite Fitness for more info :P )

So generally! How often do you train and do you make your own routines? Or steal em from elsewhere?

Well to be honest I never really worked out much in the past because I was always very active; as well as a bit on the muscular side genetically. But after 4 years of basically sitting on my ass I've started to work out a little because Chinese people started calling me fat. Mostly I've just been doing a bunch of different body weight exercises because they target so many different muscle groups, although I've added some lifting to that recently. I also become incredibly self-conscious every time I even think about going to a gym (as in almost having a panic attack), so that's really not an option for me. Not sure what I'll do when I get to the point where body weight exercises don't offer enough of a challenge anymore; but that probably won't happen for a long time. I "work out" (if you can call it that) three days a week and generally form my own routines that are loosely based on stuff I've seen and read.

Wellllllllllllllllll, I'm a swimmer with a boss/buddiefriend who lifts weights. So four times a week, I go to 'dry land' for swimming, which is a lot of cardio stuff for an hour or two, then we get in the pool and swim for two hours. Swimming is a sport. You sweat. You get tired. You get stronger, I swear. Then sometimes I go to the gym with my boss/buddiefriend, which mostly consists of him lifting and my laughing at him. Laughing is exercise!

Been recovering from both of my shoulders dislocating 2 months ago in a friendly brawl, but normally I participate in some pretty intense training programs similar to crossfit. I have done similar training programs to the ones they do for pro athletes - always a lot of fun. My training programs the past 4 years were devised by my mentor - up til about 8 months ago when we had a fight and ended our friendship. I put my own together now based on what I like on BodyBuilding.com Forums... about to get a personal trainer though!

I like to train roughly 4 times a week.

    How about you?

I did an hour on the cross trainer and walked my dog... I'm not fit though, hopefully the future me will be though!

I'm something of a couch potato when I'm not working. I used to do pilates and a little yoga at home every day, and jogged on and off. I like jogging better than walking or biking. I mostly did it to stay fit and get rid of excess energy though and I'm usually driven by anxiety. I also love to dance, and swim but it's expensive at the pool and the chlorine dries out my hair.

Good God I must be in a pervy mood today. Totally had a complete misconception about what this thread was about <_<

Relevant to topic: I don't exercise much... at all. Though, I would like to stay in shape, so I really ought to start.

I consider myself a fit guy, I try and get active as much as I can, or feel like.. lol I always create these routines that after maybe a week or 2 never continue past that cause I'll procrastinate with it or get bored easily. I'll say well I won't work out today so I'll just go extra hard tomorrow and the next day... and it never happens

I did a lot of CrossFit stuff when I used to have a Personal Trainer, but it ended messily as I became more and more obsessed with working out and not eating. A couple years later now, I'm working back into it with the same kind of routines he gave me before. The site you posted, though, seems to offer excellent inspiration for training! Nowadays, I'll do an hour of cardio, and about 45 minutes of weights 3 times per week or so, switching up reps and sets each time.

When I first started a year ago, I was exactly the same. I was really skinny and wouldn't have ever considered going to a gym. Back then, I bought a bench press, bar and some weights. Gradually I kept upgrading it and now I have everything I need (power rack, Olympic weights). Only paid about 1200 Australian for em. I've made alot of gains so maybe you should do that? I'll upload a pick abit later!
(I bought all my stuff through*Power racks, Gym & Fitness equipment, Dumbbells & Weights - CyberMarket)
(Ps cross fit really only requires a bar with a few weights and somewhere to do chin ups! It's basically body weight exercises :D)

According to various sources I've researched, swimming is one of the bests forms of exercise for you! Were cycling or running give you better cardio, they will only really make you stronger for running or cycling. Swimming on the other hand, was apparently shown to make you generally stronger! So keep it up :D (I'd post the link to the journal article but it was a cross fit one and they restrict em to members!)

ahhh an approach that sounds very much like my own :)

Bodybuilding.com was a great site I thought, but I stopped cause never could eat all the food they recommended! How do you manage that? Lol

I usually follow the cross fit WODS (workout of the days), but I've started to take more of a structured approach. I go for days a week, focusing on a different muscle group each day. I've been following a routine for the past month, called Doug's 4 day split! Been making some epic gains! You should check it out.
