Any ENFPS thats in the military or has joined the military?

    All,

I was wondering about this, I am looking to pursue a different career path and do some traveling. I was wondering if any ENFPs have ever been in the military, or thought about this as well? Im thinking about going into the Marines, or another military area. MY hold back is can i conform or go with the flow of the boot camp, etc.. with it and dedicate time in the military?

Yeah, there's loads, because surely the ENFPs would react well to being under incredibly strict sets of rules.

i would say some not all... i forced myself to learn to conform to the corporate behavior working in the corporate world and should apply the same technique... not exciting at all, by all means, but you can have fun inside of it...

Hmm, I can see the relevance of that comparison.

After all, I went to an office to do some intern work, and they had me go out on a skirmish for a few weeks in the bushes, carrying over 20 kilos of equipment in hellish conditions.

^^ are you mad? Going into the army is not only going to make you suffer LOL, it is unhealthy to do it economically...mentally...spiritually and physically. There is nothing good about joining the army. Especially now with all the wars going on the probability of you dieing and causing untold suffering and stress before you do to your family and friends is high. :) be my guest..you'll see. Have fun.

Well, I could not get into action of things.

    A) personality wise, ENFP wouldn't make a good shooter, might end up taking the ammo out of the gun and act as a comedian to the enemies to become allies instead
    B) personally, I couldn't, Im too too tall to do anything like that
    C) spiritually, i couldn't, i would become the on-site pastor for everyone else

There are other things to do in the military rather than fight, like a medic or get into politics.

My family doesnt agree, and have not agreed at all with it. As do I, I would rather work a dead end job. The guys out there are doing a fantastic job for themselves and family, and helping our families as well. They have the meaning and personality for it...

I have a cousin thats in the military, he is in Afgan, but from what I know today, he is still able to talk to his wife and kids.

His wife and kids are probably stressed out that he could die any day. She may hide it but I'm sure she is worried sick and cries at night.

What kind of politics? Supporting the government's imperialistic tendencies? No way, I'd rather they shoot me then support war and meddling in other countries affairs to advance our own.

What needs to happen is an end to the wars and the soldiers returning to their families...not more joining the ranks and going out there to get killed so the fat pigs can get their military industrial complex blood money.

You have any idea about the shit that goes on out there? The sister of my ex gf went to Afghanistan and do you know what happened there? Her commanding officer beat and raped her...she was evacuated by the medics months later and lost her baby on the way back home due to the mistreatment...yes he got her pregnant. -.- I can't believe these ppl.

Do you really want to go out there and help kill or kill other people? The choice is yours, I'm done. The army is a dead end in many ways.

Idk.. It makes me sad whenever I see someone I know join. I know you're a total stranger, but I just do not like how most of the guys I have seen join come back (even if it is just boot camp) all emotionally mangled up inside. It's as if they've been programmed to be killing robots. Sometimes, I feel an inkling of passion in them, but it's like a part of their soul is gone.

Then there are some people who are resilient and it is in their (edit- not nature, social conditioning?) to want to... you know. Whatever.

    Do what your passion is.

I remember two great instructors both said the same thing in the past I will never forget:
"Do what you love doing. If you are talented with whatever you choose, you will go far."

Pretty simple. Career-wise- just like anything else in life- one decision can effect a whole gamut of decisions (partner, kids, relocation.. all that). Make sure it's something that makes you happy? A career is like a marriage. Wise investment = happiness. Sorry for the Dr. Phil moment, there. G'Luck.

Politics as to communicate between different countries, etc.. not a governor, president. I couldnt rely on myself to make decisions that could effect someone's life or family. Im sensitive about that...

I had the unfortunate experience of meeting someone that had PTSD. Not good to say the least.. It was a big decision factor that lead me to thinking on not ever joining.

There are somethings that can be done in the military without having to fight, I think. If not, I made my decision not to join...

There are at least a couple other threads on this matter already in the ENFP board (purpose of statement is to grant you more data).... I'm feeling lazy though so I'll let you dig up the links/do the search.
