    War and Peace

I've always wondered the ENFP's position on war. Of course, every sane person would say they hate war but, there are times to fight, and the recent stuff in Libya has me considering when and where I support military action. I dunno, as rebellious "F" personality types are most of us peaceniks...Those people that protest any use of force?

Personally I think I'll be on the outside. I definitely think there are times when wars are necessary, and that includes post second world war. Korea, Gulf War I, Afghanistan and I'm debating if we need to 'save' Libya now. Though I don't want this to be able a single topic so much as our general stance on when and where use of the army is acceptable.

I'd prefer it if everyone just got along and I find it hard to see why we have to keep butting in on other countries and monitor what they're doing, but it's also good because it gives people a chance at freedom =_= So I have no idea.

Ideally, soldiers, generals, strategists, researchers, guerillas and all other types of people central to the act of war would be no different, save for the fact that they would never actually get the chance to apply themselves outside of a theoretical setting. If they were just there for the deterrent factor, but never had to engage in any true act of conflict, that would be great. I just can't imagine things ever getting that simple though. God I'm such a 9....

    Watch out for the pacifist!

My opinion is that there's no winner in a war, only losers. If someone think that war is an easy solution to problems, that person needs to improve his/her creativeness. War is a short-term solution.
I think everyone has the right to defend their country. If war is over you there's no need to become a martyr, we already have enough of them... So, yeah, to defend your country (but not by invading another country...).
To resolve a conflict without fighting each other we need more endurance, commitment and interest, but I think that makes the world a better place.

I don't think it would work to charge in Libya. It's an Arab country, the locality have bad experiences of invasions and it wouldn't better the relationships with the surrounding countries. Even if I wish sometimes when I see the news that someone would chop off Khadaffi's head and free the country from that creepy psychopath, I know it's not that easy.

    This is an interesting subject

I believe war will always be rather we want it or not. Our world is not perfect. I do hope that wrongs can be made right with democratic reasoning, but if not war will most likely commence. If war is used to free people from enslavement of personal rights, then I believe that it right to happen. I don't like war or support it. I support the freedom of individuals.

On the one hand I think War is overrated, over-priced, overdone, and just plain old wrong. And I know that violence will never win especially not as far as public relations is concerned. But then, there are a few times where you just have to watch and say, "Yeah! Get 'em!!!" One of those times is WWII. The other time is this women's group in India (I think it was JDS?), they take baseball bats and beat up on wife beaters who have set their wives on fire and have escaped conviction.
Protesters should never commit violence if they can help it because they lose sympathy for their cause when they do. That's what moves you from protester to terrorist. But, hey, I understand the sentiment.
Also, I just want to say world peace is possible. But it requires an effort for every person to singly make up his mind to try to be a grown up and self-reflect. I am extremely argumentative/grumpy/violent when I am physically or socially uncomfortable. Knowing this has helped me to recognize when I am going to do something I regret and prevent myself from doing said action. The same must be done around the world.
Most wars are symptoms of poverty. the haves and the have nots. We must learn to throw away greed and embrace each other and share. We must learn to give and stop punishing and stealing from each other. Then, World Peace will happen. I know it.

Conflict is a part of the experience of existence. Our social mores and much of our behaviour (including self doubt) are all displayed in our simian cousins, and I don't just mean chimps, even macaques display these traits. Thus it's a safe bet to say that we can conclude that society is evolved along the same core principles. Simians fight, canines fight, thus we, as the 6th ape fight. The pure pacifist is in a position that I simply cannot understand. However, I believe that conflict should be the option of last resort.
There are times when conflict is morally viable; the Haitian uprising was perfectly sound in principle. All the freedom fighters from old colonies were also morally acceptable to me. Although I do not like religions and do not follow any faith system, I respect the Sikh Guru Gobind Singh, who said "hath joreh je kamm na avaan chukk lavo hathiar" or "when folded hands are of no use, pick up your weapon". So people will force you to conflict. As an "F" type, I'd rather not fight, if I have to I'd rather attack with my caustic tongue. However, whilst my bark is worse than my bite; I think it's necessary to have to courage and conviction to have some bite when your back's to the wall and all the other options are gone...

I hate war, like most people do, and I'd definitely prefer if the US got itself involved in less conflicts.. but, the world will never be perfect. There will never be world peace. I think war is sometimes necessary, and when you're in one you have to fight it all the way.

There are moments where talking just doesn't solve everything.. sometimes violence is the answer.

I don't think I would do that myself, or support it, but I don't blame these women at all.

Mahatma Gandhi believed that non-violence is the best way to combat injustices, but that passivity might harm more than violence. I agree with that. And I'm not saying that this is an easy subject, but we gotta start somewhere if we want to make the world a better place.

I think the world can be a great, lovely place even without world peace.. The bad has to be around in order to appreciate the good, yeah?

It can always become a better place, though, and I'm all for working towards that.
