Tell me what ENFP stereotypes you have heard of. This is in no way an attack on ENFP's. This thread just gives awareness to the stereotypes of the ENFP personality.

Here is my list of ENFP stereotypes..

1.) Manipulators
2.) Suffers from Attention Deficit Disorder
3.) Players
4.) Obnoxious
5.) Constant Mood Swings
6.) Narcissistic
7.) Can't take criticisms
8.) Can't stand being disliked or hated
9.) Cheaters
10.) Attention whore

Here's your list of ENFP stereotypes from an ENFP's point of view:

1.) Manipulators: We can't help being so charming people want to do what we want.

2.) Suffers from Attention Deficit Disorder: We're interested in everything and in everyone. Friends and strangers and dogs and labels on shampoo bottles of ENFPs will never from suffer a lack of attention.

3.) Players: We sure do like to have fun! And the more activity involved, like in wrestling, the better!

4.) Obnoxious: OK. Now that insults me. I would say annoying.

5.) Constant Mood Swings: What? That ticks me off! We're famously the happiest-go-luckiest people around. Until it finally sinks in that you're a jerk!

6.) Narcissistic: It isn't just about me or how gorgeous I am, or what I like or want. It's about you thinking I'm gorgeous and telling me, and giving me what I like or want. So isn't it really all about you?

7.) Can't take criticisms: Of course we can. They sting really bad and probably require medical attention, but tomorrow we won't remember them anyway.

8.) Can't stand being disliked or hated: Does any type out there LIKE being disliked or criticized? I think no.

9.) Cheaters: We sure do like to have fun! And the more activity involved, like in wrestling, the better!

10.) Attention whore: I would say attention 'gourmand'

i would totaly disagree only with 9 .. i don't like cheaters and 6.. i can't consider myself as narcissistic but everything else is something i hear often from people close to me..
5 and 8.. those are my biggest problems i have to deal with

Those that love me say I have a one track mind when I get interested in something - Another person might call me obsessive
But I can just as quickly turn cold to a subject and then I'm completely off it -- So ....incapable of following through
Complete procrastinator
When I get in a relationship its hard for me to break up with someone because I don't want to hurt their feelings if we have gotten really close and I often think I can "fix" whatever is wrong, or I feel like the problems are my fault - I am hyper self aware about this and it makes me very cautious about getting involved too seriously with someone if I don't think its going to go anywhere. I know that this has made a lot of males who know me come to the conclusion that I am too "independent" or that I am a "player" because I will go out with someone a couple times and, yeah, we may get along well, but if I don't think its something meaningful I am not interested in just coasting along in a random relationship "just to have a boy" - I'm completely fine being single and have never been one of those girls who needs a boyfriend - but like I said, this has led a lot of people to think that I am cold or a player - Which, I can see their point, and I don't blame them for thinking that........It is what it is, I guess

I for sure agree with 7 to an extent... this particular ENFP doesn't like being criticized but I bounce back VERY quickly from insults, I believe a puppy is the best example I have ever been labeled -- I get my feelings hurt if someone LOOKS at me the wrong way but the instant any affection or love is given to me from that person ALL is forgotten, forgiven and I'm back to being overly exuberant and annoyingly happy

I definetivly suffer from 4, 5, 7, 8 and probably 10. I also have strong urges to cheat, but for my own health I supress them as much as I can (Most of my friends detest cheaters).
I wouldn't say I'm much of a manipulator, its merely a matter of the right comments at the right time... oh, I guess I have it in me then. :proud:
I'm definetively not a player, as far as I know.
2... maybe a tiny bit, at special occasions!
6... Egoism... well, that is one trait I can't really say I have. I have one friend who is very much one, and a materialist. We were playing video games at his home once when he suddenly ripped the control from my hand, saying it was his game and he wanted to be the only one to play it... and that I pushed too hard on the buttons, ruining it...
A quick excuse 20 sec later, a decent cold walk home and a lot of cursing at nothing in particular let me keep my cool, luckily. :blushed:

I've been diagnosed with attention deficit disorder...it happens to have very positive effects on creativity based on research done mister!...it sounds more like ENFP syndrome though in all honesty...creativity, can't get things done easily, focused more on fun, procrastinates, hyper, hilarious...everyone with ADD I've met are hilarious people...never boring to be around unless they're medicated

1.) Manipulators - If you don't think the way I do, then you're wrong and have to wooed to my side. You're just jealous because I (as an ENFJ) do this better than the other personalities.

2.) Suffers from Attention Deficit Disorder - It's just that we can see the potential of everything around us. Why that fly on the wall could one day fly straight into the face of a motorcycle driver leading to the biggest highway crash of all time. But then over there, the squirrel in that tree, I hope it knows there are all kinds of cats in this neighborhood. What were we discussing ....

3.) Players - We are social butterflies trying to spread the happiness that is ourselves to as many people as we can in the short life that we have been given.

4.) Obnoxious - annoying or objectionable due to being a showoff or attracting undue attention to oneself: an obnoxious little brat. I know that as a child my family didn't really pay that much attention to me and when they did it was for the wrong reasons. Now I seek attention when I have done something well, I know it sounds childish, but it validates me as a person when someone congratulates me. Even if it was for something small....

5.) Constant Mood Swings - I don't know if this is or not, I know that I really empathise and walk in a persons shoes and that at times this can get awfully wearing. So I can go from happy to sad if something has happend to a friend or aquaintance.

6.) Narcissistic - How could we not be when people flock to us like moths to a flame and we are constantly being asked for advice.

7.) Can't take criticisms - Guilty. I am still learing the whole listen to the person, if what they have to say has a nugget of truth for me that I can use to take a deep breath and accept it. If it's just someone mouthing off and it's not constructive, to leave it and feel sorry for them since they obviously aren't getting any.

8.) Can't stand being disliked or hated - My life depends on people liking me. Of course I hate it when someone is indifferent or doesn't like me.

9.) Cheaters - nope, never. I can lie like a politician, but I would never cheat. That's a core belief that I won't break.

10.) Attention whore - okay, maybe.

I've never ever cheated on anyone and I never ever would.
I know 3 other ENFPs and they are the most loyal to their partners (even to their own incredible detriment) out of any people I know.

I could never do it because I'd feel horrific for it, and I'd have to fess up or the guilt would consume me, then to see how I'd have betrayed someone I cared abouts trust and hurt them so deeply would be just horrendous.

Well, I definitely would say I have been all of those at some point. The thing is, as far as I know, being an ENFP comes with having a good framework for growth and a mature ENFP eventually can surpass many of their shortcomings, although the ones left over sometimes get a bit stronger with age.

I think peace loving is a good stereotype for us...I've noticed I can peacefully speak on subjects that, with any other type, would potentially erupt, but with another ENFP, it never erupts...I think that's also about being open minded
