When you find something new and shiny and exciting, you're going to be excited about it. It's the most awesome thing in the world for a time. It's all you talk about, all you think about, and every time you play with your new shiny, you get giddy and so full of energy that it's like a shot of pure caffeine. That kind of mania fades as the novelty wears off.

Young ENFPs have a lot more novelty simply because they have experienced less than older ENFPs. Time, experience, and maturity temper the crazy hyperactivity into something more akin to childlike innocence and playfulness. We age like fine wine and those traits become more attractive and endearing as you get older. ^_^

I feel like that from time to time. I just embrace it. It will go away eventually. I even get this way with music!

Depends whether you're using the term "manic" clinically or not. I don't think we have a greater propensity to be clinically manic, no. If you find it's causing problems in your life or in the lives of others, there are a lot of great resources on the web. And therapy, if it's a real problem.

The kind of "manic" that I feel isn't something I have to "deal with," really. It's just a fun wave I ride. Moments when I'm grinning hugely about how beautiful the world is or have so many thoughts flooding my head that I can't express them fast enough. It's exhilarating and intense, but doesn't hinder me in any way or cause me to neglect myself/others or do foolish things.

Yeah, a little "mania" is common, but if you're experiencing real symptoms of it, I'd go and get that checked out. My life has been exponentially better since I started taking meds and finding the right dosage. I still feel those surges now, but for the most part they don't last for days which is a lot easier for me to deal with.

    Thanks all you guys!

I have some friends who are ENFPs and this one girl I know who I'm very close to gets super down in the dirt for days on end, can't socialise, doesn't wanna get out of bed (although she does) and feels super disconnected. Then she sometimes for periods goes on something she calls "autopilot" or something...I've felt this before it feels like everything's clicking into place and you know what to do and everything seems easy.

I'm not sure if this is manic or depression, although it happens around every other month for her and she's been feeling more and more anxious. Shes around my age so it might be change of life, although I have no idea. Being an anxious person myself, we're both pretty worried about taking meds as none of us have and don't want our personalities drasticaly changed

@fangela9 It doesn't change you, it just brings out more of the real you you're unable to express. It's hard to describe and the exact reason I was so afraid to take anything in the first place. (That was with depression at 16, not the bipolar meds which by that time I was completely used to the idea.)

I can't really say much other than it really improves the quality of your life.
