    Language thread!

    Hey Everyone,

Perc is full of people from all over the world, so I thought it would be a great idea to make a thread for people who need help with a language they are learning!

Wow. I plan to learn Portuguese soon since it's very close to spanish and I want to go to Brazil for Carnival in the future. How have you been learning it?

I taught myself German when I was younger, but I forgot most of it (I still find it a very attractive language)

I'm trying to teach myself too, I get a lot of postcards in German and it helps. I don't know why, but I always wanted to learn it :)

I'm trying to learn Portuguese without classes and stuff. I've been listening to music, watching movies, and reading Brazilian books and such. Does anyone have tips?

I used a Rosetta Stone CD and books from the library. I liked it because I felt it was unique of me to learn German while everyone else chose spanish (i switched to spanish because it's more commonly spoken, but I eventually fell in love with it as well). I have also have a bit of German heritage.

I think immersing yourself in the language and culture is the best way and it seems you're already doing that. Get some portuguese-speaking friends maybe?
