The universe is a pretty big place. I wouldn't bet against it.
By all means, I definitely believe it to be a possibility. We live in a huge universe, potentially a multiverse, full of marvelous improbably incidences.
Now, I have no solid evidence to believe it to be a fact, so I cannot call myself a true believer. Although, once I did see a peculiar aircraft flying. Out of disbelief, and perhaps even fear of ridicule, I said nothing. About a month later, my mother described a very similar incident. Coincidence? New military spacecraft? That's weird, I don't live anywhere near a militant base. *cue creepy music* "You see a sign up ahead! Next stop, the Twilight Zone!"
When you decide to take a stroll at three AM to clear your head and on the way back home see a light sitting in the sky and flashing all colors of the rainbow, you'll believe in possibility of extra-terrestrial activity too.
I think there probably is.
I also suspect that there is at least one civilization advanced enough to have taken over the whole universe, but we're so unadvanced to them that they didn't even bother to actually contact us.
(I do believe that there is life out there somewhere..... to what development and extent? Who knows...)
Same here.. it was a flying ring of light around a circle of the same light.
Considering the diversity of these phenomenons despite no decent public proof, most of them could be holograms managed by a flying hidden device, to accustom us individually, ensuring that nobody will make a good catch with proper stuff. It could even scan our primitive brains and anticipate our reactions, that's no big deal. They could even scan the entire civilisation and run accurate long-range simulations ..
Interesting theory. I have no theories myself. The aircraft I saw, I initially believed it to be a plane with peculiar lighting. It travelled forward for a while, when it suddenly shot backward almost instantly. My mom described a very similar experience nearly a month later. It's strange that we saw the same thing...
I've always had a firm conviction that what is commonly referred to as "the supernatural" is in fact more real than advanced alien civilization. This is not based in fact, but in my deep feeling since childhood and personal experiences and estimation of such things.
Of course, I do not discount the possibility that alien life forms exist, that they may have had something to do with the bizarre symmetry in early civilizations that were far apart (like the Mayans and the Egyptians) and that I simply do not know enough about this.
But I am not really strongly convinced, no, not really. If an advanced civilization besides ours exists, it's pretty far away and in another galaxy.
It almost never preoccupies my thoughts, and I for some reason feel the same kind of mildly contemptuous amusement toward the alien-obsessed as they probably feel toward me for believing in the spiritual realm.
I consider the supernatural on and around Earth to be a much more immediate pressing concern than the remote possibility that another civilization exists a gazillion light years away.
