This is assuming that some lives are more valuable than others. Since we are all equally human (regardless of the maladies that may be present) then no group can fairly be extinguished, because we all have equal right to be alive.

Wouldn't it be nice if some humans were truly more valuable than others?

Well, no it wouldn't be nice.

But that is the only way that human extermination could be justified, regardless of the group's ability to contribute or care for themselves.

So we should start grading humans on various criterion? If you pass you get to live if not steralisation/death are all that await you. What would the criterion be that you'd suggest? Not just a vague sweeping gesture, I'd personally suggest idiots who come up with crack pot ideas about 'purifying' the human race, lets face it, none of us are genetically pure, we've all got a plethora of issues in our bodies, and once we start clearing people out all that will lead to is genetic bottle necking and a right royal fucking up our species backside...

Bare in mind Stephen Hawking couldn't live without round the clock assistance... I'd hardly see him as an inferior human.

(Before you go and quote me, which I'm sure this little bit is going to guarentee, I'm not going to get sucked in any more than I already am.)

And yet, the world could stand to lose people with big egos who think they are better than others. A lot of the disabled are humbled people. Humility is a good concept that should be passed down generation to generation. Narcissism on the other hand...

We're all aware of the plethora of diseases and ailments that plague the human race. Hereditary dysfunctions are often passed from generation to generation without proper consideration.

For the sake of prolonging healthy human life, biological engineering is necessary. To maintain an absence of destructive DNA, immediate sacrifices need to be made upon realization of said existing abnormalities in human hosts.

Afterall, if we want to create a strong and virile human race, some sacrifices need to be made; particularly, starting with the profoundly disabled and those who are not able to adequately maintain their lives without basic assistance.
I think it would lead on to something worse, it would probably lead on to racism, which is never a good thing, if one wants to purificate humans then tell them to stop eating garbage, and to get healthier, I think that would be a start.

Those with a sickle cell gene are resistant to malaria. It's also thought that the genes responsible for Tay Sachs Disease may also affect the brain in a way conducive to higher IQ (note I said the gene, not the disease).

Assuming the whole Punnet's Square works out in this case, and assuming TS is a recessive gene, for every 1 Tay Sach combo, you have 2x the likelihood of producing a more intelligent kid without TS (1 of the 4 combos will lack the TS gene entirely). And even the kid with TS could concurrently enjoy the brain benefits.

So if you killed everyone with a copy of the gene, you'd kill at least 2 geniuses for every TS sufferer. Good going.

We certainly don't know the "other side of the coin" for ALL the diseases out there - so don't risk throwing out 2 baby Einsteins with the bathwater.

I genraly agree with this. getting rid of destructive DNA and generally bettering our species is a great thing and will better everyones life because future people will be WAY less likely to be born with defects and will insted be born more capable then they would have.

I would just like to add on because a lot of peole bring this up that disabled people who still help out in some way like using computers or other productive ways do not count under this and this is just for those people who do not contribute in any decent way (disabled or not( it just happens that a lot of dissabled people don't do that and its not only those dissabled people who arn't productive, there are plenty of perfictly able people who do jack all for sociaty).
