    Fox News watcher? Congratulations! You're officially the least informed citizen!!!

    Haven't seen this around the forum yet, but I'd wager a good % of the users are or know Fox News watchers.....forward this to them.

    Study Finds Fox News Viewers Least Informed Of All Viewers

    Another study has concluded that people who only watch Fox News are less informed than all other news consumers.
    Researchers at Fairleigh Dickinson University updated a study they had conducted in late 2011. That study only sampled respondents from New Jersey, where the university is located. This time, the researchers conducted a nationwide poll.

    The poll asked questions about international news (Iran, Egypt, Syria and Greece were included) and domestic affairs (Republican primaries, Congress, unemployment and the Keystone XL pipeline.)

    The pollsters found that people were usually able to answer 1.8 out of 4 questions on foreign news, and 1.6 of 5 questions on domestic news, and that people who don't watch any news were able to get 1.22 of the questions on domestic policy right.

    As the study explained, though, people who watched only Fox News fared worse:

    The largest effect is that of Fox News: all else being equal, someone who watched only Fox News would be expected to answer just 1.04 domestic questions correctly -- a figure which is significantly worse than if they had reported watching no media at all. On the other hand, if they listened only to NPR, they would be expected to answer 1.51 questions correctly; viewers of Sunday morning talk shows fare similarly well. And people watching only "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" could answer about 1.42 questions correctly.
    Other networks also did badly in some sections; MSNBC viewers and Fox News viewers both fared worse in answering international questions than people who watched no news.

    People who only listened to NPR or watched Sunday morning talk shows or "The Daily Show" did the best in the study.

    Lol no surprise there. Not that the other stations are much better but still. Reminds me of this old gem I found a while back. :)

    Lol, from what I've seen on Fox News...this doesn't surprise me one bit.
    America's most biased news channel..created by people who took slightly left-leaning news channels to the extreme..the other channels, I'll admit *cough* MSNBC *cough*, have their own biases but none as extreme as Fox News.

    Anyone remember Fox News' "comedy" show? It only lasted for half a year. It was supposed to be a spoof of "The Daily Show" but misunderstood what Jon Stewart actually does [which isn't only bashing conservatives and only praising liberals]..the "comedy" show was primarily a liberal-bashing show.

    The Pew Research Center did a study of this in 2006 and found that the Weekly Standard/New Republic audience possessed the most "high knowledge" with 50%.

    Rush Limbaugh's audience came in second at 48%.
    O'Reilly's audience came in at 42%;
    NPR's audience came in at 39%;
    The Daily Show's audience came in at 38%;
    CNN's audience came in at 31%;
    Fox News' audience came in at 28%.

    I think this means that a lot of ill-informed liberals watch Fox News, but don't watch O'Reilly. LINK

    All I do is facepalm and sob into my hand whenever I remind myself that Fox is the most watched News network in the country.... minus maybe CNN, but pretty sure their ratings suck ass nowadays. Probably because it's about as bad as Fox anyways.

    I watched Fox at my parents house the other day.

    Their news stories for an entire hour segment involved murder, youtube videos, and garbage.

    I've known about this study for awhile. It doesn't surprise me either. I feel like my IQ is dropping every time I watch it.

    Generally speaking, I don't see that much of a difference in the stories covered on Fox News, CNN, etc. They all seem to cover the same stuff generally, from what I've seen.

    This is a good point, Fox news should be separated from their editorial stuff. The slant, in the case of the news proper, typically concerns the stories they pick, which is how every other news group does it, from NPR to BBC.
