This guy drank his own urine to survive and he had meth in the cell with him. "Three times he drank his own urine. The only sustenance he had, he said, was a packet of white powder that he found wrapped in the blanket, which turned out to be methamphetamine. "
"On the fourth day, he said, the lights in the cell went out. Eventually, his hands still cuffed behind his back, he broke his eyeglasses with his teeth, as he contemplated killing himself. On his arm, he tried to carve a message: “Sorry Mom.” He also swallowed a piece of the glass, which cut his esophagus. "
Jesus Christ.
I think the war on drugs needs to end...

Normally I joke when I post this, but I'm really seriously asking you to read my signature down below and be sure you understand what I mean by it...
Meth is excreted mostly unmetabolized via the urine. By drinking his own urine he was effectively redosing himself on more methamphetamine every time. Poor dude.
The DEA is a brutish organization comprised of failed ideologies and corruption. The war on drugs is a war specifically on the poor, and a total shirking of the responsibility the USA has to curb its drug consumption problem that is causing misery the world over. Decriminalize drugs, actually treat addicts, reduce harm, reduce crime, educate the masses. Fuck this puritanical nonsense.
Decriminalization works. Check it out: http://www.cato.org/pubs/wtpapers/gr...whitepaper.pdf
Heres a petition for an investigation... for whatever its worth.

I believe it's deliberate; there is no way you lose track of a prisoner for 5 days. Someone should be fired, but since these are government workers, I doubt anyone will be held accountable.
