    Meaning of Life

    I asked someone I knew, what the meaning of life was and she said, in the words of James Frey, 'whatever you want it to be.'

    We only have a short time on earth and there are numerous interpretations throughout the ages. I personally came to the conclusion that the meaning of life is to be the best that one could be and to help others.

    What are your thoughts on the meaning of life?

    I don't believe in a "meaning of life."

    I don't believe there is an objective meaning of life.

    The meaning of life that I've formulated/adopted is the metanarrative of religious naturalism;

    We are the way for the cosmos to know itself - Carl Sagan

    ... we could as one race explore inner and outer space together in peace, forever. - Bill Hicks

    The meaning of life is to find a connection with the Creator...

    Don't know about "meaning". I don't believe there's an inherent or universal one, and I don't really have a personal one either. But if I can replace meaning with objective, then it's to be happy and have fun.

    To quote Kurt Vonnegut, "A purpose of human life, no matter who is controlling it, is to love whoever is around to be loved."

    I'm always trying to understand human nature, in order to decide this for certain. I think it must be to become a very actualized human being. I have discovered some things that I find central to the human spirit.. the one that stands out the most, is love. Another is rationale.. or intelligence. We have been given some spark that lesser primates don't have. I often get bogged down in this thought though, because it seems like humanity either must go against its nature at times, in a self-defeating way; or perhaps that is the nature of it, and those who struggle against that are wrong.. but if its in the human spirit to struggle against that, then it must have something to do with human nature as well. What do we have all this intelligence for if we just use it to exchange money, commodities, and go to war. I think we are a very young species, hopefully evolving into the things most of us idealize. A better hope for humanity seems central to the human spirit as well. Maybe in our time, the purpose is the struggle.

    I would contend it's a lot starker than that even. The Law of entropy means that eventually everything will break down and cease.....there will be nothing left, not even the most basic fundamental particles and nature and the unverse don't care....no matter how important we think we are!

    There is no meaning of life....just a happy coincidnce that we are on a small planet in an insignificant galaxy in a corner of the universe.

    We just got to appreciate being here and do the best we can
