Now I have a name for that style of argumentation which seems to be prevalent among certain sects today:

    "Kafkatrapping" -

'One very notable pathology is a form of argument that, reduced to essence, runs like this: “Your refusal to acknowledge that you are guilty of {sin, racism, sexism, homophobia, oppression…} confirms that you are guilty of {sin, racism, sexism, homophobia, oppression…}.” I’ve been presented with enough instances of this recently that I’ve decided that it needs a name. I call this general style of argument “kafkatrapping” '

'My reference, of course, is to Franz Kafka’s “The Trial”, in which the protagonist Josef K. is accused of crimes the nature of which are never actually specified, and enmeshed in a process designed to degrade, humiliate, and destroy him whether or not he has in fact committed any crime at all. The only way out of the trap is for him to acquiesce in his own destruction; indeed, forcing him to that point of acquiescence and the collapse of his will to live as a free human being seems to be the only point of the process, if it has one at all.'

The aim of the kafkatrap is to produce a kind of free-floating guilt in the subject, a conviction of sinfulness that can be manipulated by the operator to make the subject say and do things that are convenient to the operator’s personal, political, or religious goals. Ideally, the subject will then internalize these demands, and then become complicit in the kafkatrapping of others.'

'It is essential to the operation of all three of the variants of the kafkatrap so far described that the subject’s attention be deflected away from the fact that no wrongdoing by the subject, about which the subject need feel personally guilty, has actually been specified. The kafkatrapper’s objective is to hook into chronic self-doubt in the subject and inflate it, in much the same way an emotional abuser convinces a victim that the abuse is deserved – in fact, the mechanism is identical. Thus kafkatrapping tends to work best on weak and emotionally vulnerable personalities, and poorly on personalities with a strong internalized ethos.'

Interesting. I shall, perhaps, use this word in future.

I just got off the tele with Franz and he does not approve of the expropriation and verbalization of his name for what at best can be described and/or construed as dubious, even nefarious purposes. A minister will be sitting in your parlor, you do have a parlor, when you arrive home this evening to have a discursive yet comprehensive conversation, if conversation implies that there will only be one who is a talker and one who is a listener, about this droll suggestion you have seen fit to impart without first receiving permission from the proper authorities, whose jurisdiction in this matter are unimpeachable and beyond the scope of further review. A recording device will be present to document your responses should you attempt at some point to find dispute with said minister's findings, and you will be held culpable for any problems with its proper operation. Should you at any time wish to relieve yourself from this evening's proceedings, you will be accompanied by an appointed member of the interior. Needless to say, your full cooperation is expected. A tribunal will convene to hear testimony and review documentation from third parties regarding the implications of your actions, and will present a sealed affidavit to the Interior head advising what grave punishment might be considered. Until such time as you are duly notified, you are to remain mute and interred within your dwelling place, and the aforementioned member of the interior will be stationed outside your door should you decide to breach this agreement. Your windows should also remain closed and lights may only be turned on between 6 and 7 PM. I can only hope that you seriously consider the offense you have committed in the proper light as an act against peoples whom have not otherwise been found guilty of anything other than the most mundane of activities.

I like that term. I also thought "tweet forensics" was a good one I heard recently.
