Different people probably have different attributes to their resonance; I guess the big over-arching statement I see would be that spiritually, energies are more linked than we can ever conceive them to be.

    Well.
I say that there are things we are capable of, that most of us never dream of, let alone develop.
I was a Pentecostal for several years, and one of the reasons I was, was that it worked.
Miracles are things we see all the time, but usually fail to recognize.
I have seen quite a few.
When I parted company with the church, it was because I could not fit into that particular box.
It had shown me that there was much more than I was allowed to experience, or become adept in.
I became a sort-of freelance spiritualist, until I discovered the tao te ching.
That was the beginning of a time of drastically enhanced experience.
I have come to accept that everything is available.
    It can not be owned.
But it can be drawn upon, as electricity can be drawn from a wall socket.
All that is necessary is for one to realize how to connect.

I've read a few editions of the Tao Te Ching, so, naturally, I have no idea where you're coming from. I think miracles exist and happen all the time, people are just looking for thunderbolts smiting unbelievers instead of cancer going into remission.

Connection would be very possible, it's just the how of it that's got me. It also depends on what degree of connection a person would seek: there's a pretty big gap, in my opinion, between slightly improved physical health and being able to punch through concrete slabs.
I apologize if I replied in no specific order, my thought process is less than measured and exact.

Forgive me for observing that I have no idea of what your post was saying.
I am unable to make sense of it. Which is fine, but not if an answer is desired :)

I feared as much, it seems I've skipped a few rungs on my ladder of thought.
First, Taoism. Interesting stuff, I guess. I really don't know what to think on it. The more I read about it, the more confused I got, which wasn't as troubling as it might seem it would be.
Second, the nature of miracles. I think you're right to say that we are capable of far more than we even conceive of. In addition, I think miracles (though it does depend on your definition of miracle) happen more often than we can even notice them. There was a philosopher once who thought the universe was destroyed and recreated every single instant, and that this in itself was a miracle. I think theories like this hold a lot of merit, but I'm not sure to what extent.
Third, on tapping into the ultimate reality, the Unnamed, or other various terms failing a true description. I see what you say about electricity from a socket, but what I was trying to say is that it's not a perfect metaphor. I think there aren't really metaphors; the right amount of IT is there exactly when you need it, but electricity is terribly limited by things like voltage. Some of the things humans are capable of defy their limits; electricity is a bit more confined to the traditional laws of physics.

I hope this makes more sense than my last post did! I was rushing to comment (I haven't the foggiest idea why).

We leave the realm of language here :)
    It happens all the time.
Taoism is beyond mysticism: there is, and can be, no language to hint at its workings.
The rational mind ridicules this, but it is the way it is.
Miracles: well what qualifies as a miracle? I rolled the highway up, once, just by envisioning it.
My hitch-hiker passenger demanded to be let out of the car, he was so rattled.
Speaking of rattles: I saved a rattlesnake, once, from death by a million ants.
It could have struck at me, but did not.
Electricity is a poor comparison, true, but you get the idea.
Imagine you are a toaster. You sit there, gleaming, but have no purpose.
Then someone plugs you in and you can suddenly make toast.
You had no idea you could do that.
Best I can do, for now :)

Taoism sure does a terrific job of wrapping the brain of whoever thinks too hard about it around a steel post. I think that, as there is no language to even attempt to describe the Tao, it could also be said, regarding spiritual power, that there is nothing approaching the Tao, though they may be aspects of it. This is largely what I like thinking of morphic fields and such as, little facets of something that can't be seen as a whole. The best thing I can compare this to, and it definitely isn't perfect, is the story of Socrates asking someone to describe to him what beauty is, without using aspects of beauty to describe it. Suffice it to say, the man who had been asked couldn't do it.
Rattlesnake tangent: I have a less extreme story involving a stray kitten in an icestorm. It clawed and scratched the rest of my family who tried picking it up, but I got it into a crate and indoors.
Toaster: Yes, I get the idea. I enjoy the toaster analogy, though I don't think I've ever imagined myself as a toaster before. And not only would I suddenly make toast, but it would seem that every part of myself was intended to make toast, and that I hadn't known until I got the electricity. Maybe stretching the metaphor a bit too far, I don't know. It makes some sense to me. I do think we are geared towards this proverbial "toast making", it's just a matter of getting the electricity.

i believe in spiritual power. as to what could be the 'cause' of said power; whether spiritual, gods/deities, or man's own cognitive influence is another story.

there are plenty of magic 'cults' around the world, voodoo, santeria, etc., which in practice seem all too bizarre but you can't undermine the psychological effects which takes hold of the participant of the ritual. currently i don't know how the power is derived other than the person who does such a ceremony in some way 'boosts' this mentality with the various acts of the ritual. but something does take root when practice is done.

for pure spiritual power, i believe in such as well. prayer, meditation, etc. all boosts the serenity a person feels if done in the proper context. i feel it's probably more psychological as well, but there is a deeper root to the complacency which occurs.

er. everything is psychological just to put it out there.

I think I'd equate "spiritual power" with immense self-confidence and sureness out of which stem charisma, influence and free exercise of will. People are inextricably drawn to them cause they exhibit great self-mastery - mirror neurons light up, want to learn therefore you start following what the person says or does. Most often such individuals are found to practice spirituality but it does not have to be so. A good martial artist also has that hard to describe aura when in a crowd.
