Is it possible the MBTI is being used as a meme?

This was just a thought I recently had. Is it possible that the MBTI and socionics could be used as a meme, which if you don't know what this is.....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meme.

Is it possible that this is just a meme, used to perpetuate society in certain ways? To drive the formation of "individual classes"? I am not saying that the experiment and research was a meme, but that the possibility exists that "societal architechts" would use such a thing and the globalization and speed of ideas now-a-days to perpetuate these classes?

    just a thought.
btw i dont know where this goes.

Anything specific that is popular is just a meme. The word meme does not imply an agenda. Also, I think that there is no agenda behind MBTI, except for the obvious one of making cash by selling books.

Possible, sure. Probable, I doubt it. There are also consulting services that some may sell that is part of a capitalistic consumerist culture we have now.

So, while I am acknowledging that the possibility exists, I have great doubts that the originators of MBTI would understand how far its use would spread and thus didn't intend for some of today's consequences.

Why can it be considered a meme? Most of the other things you would consider memes are a lot more well known.
