    Depends on the definition.

It is, I think, by the most common standard, a form of harm. Whether or not you merely enjoy an act does not determine whether or not it is harmful. An example of this is that most people would consider heroin use harmful.

It's harmful because it is damaging your body (in the case of heroin, probably your mind, too). If the needles you stick in you arm are actually doing long term damage to the physical function of your arm, or pose some healthy risk to your body (like getting an infection), then it is doing harm.

Heroin and opiates in general are actually not very damaging to one's body. Alcohol is MUCH more harmful. The harm with heroin comes from using unsanitary equipment to shoot up and poor injection techniques.

Of course, there is also addiction which is quite damaging mentally and not a consequence that should be regarded lightly.

But I agree that something being pleasurable doesn't make it harmless. Self-injury is generally thought of as pleasurable by those who partake because it numbs the negative feelings they are trying to escape from. Those who self-harm see the physical pain as less damaging than then mental anguish they are going through, but slicing your wrists is still harmful.

i definetly understand this. most people think it's weird that i actually like to snort or smoke something. idk. they say that with people who shoot up, the needle is actually part of the addiction.

The needles don't even have to to have any droogs in em for me to enjoy the sensation. But yeah, 'tis always better when there's drugs in that barrel.

When you say that you "stick needles in your arms", does this mean you just jab em' in randomly, or do you go for the veins, specific muscles, or what? Is there a particular part of your arm you enjoy stabbing, and is a larger diameter and/or longer needle better? How many times do you stab yourself; once really slowly, multiple quick pricks, what?

Care to shoot a video and stick it up on youtube so that we can study this phenomenon more definitively?

Does it make you bleed? Yes, it's harmful.

Seriously, does it really take a philosophical discussion to come to the conclusion that this is not healthy?
    Yes dude, it’s harm.

I misread the title and thought it said "anus" instead of "arms". Now the thread is less interesting.
