    Jung's Collective Unconscious

Today my teacher said that Jung believes we have shared memories from all of our ancestors.

    Explain.

"Time" is just an impression that our brain make in order to let us see that there is logical connection between things. In reality, time dont exist : you think your life is linear , but in reality you are at all moment/place of universe existance at the same "time". Your brain organize this in order to let you think that life exist from a point A to a point B, in order to remain stable itself, but cant delete all irrelevant information from other place you where (are ?). This give a back impression that there is a collective memory. In reality, you know ALL. You know the future, the past, physics law who will be invented next century, all.

    Im right ?
    lol

The basic understanding of the collective unconscious I have gained is the elements of the unconscious that are not based on our own memory, but nevertheless shape aspects of human existence such as our inherited images of male and female, good and evil, love and power, that are represented in all cultures.

When I used to hear the "shared memories from all of our ancestors" part, it sounded (especially from a Christian perspective) like something occult, such as spiritism or that we're all the same spirit, or stuff like that. But (whether he was really into the occult or not; I see a lot of people's views of him seem to be more of assumptions or misunderstanding), that is not necessarily what it's about. It's more about shared experience, and I guess also common survival instincts that are programmed into our brains. That's where those "inherited images" come from.

I can peg this down to one word: INSTINCT.

Some theorize that consciousness isn't actually created by the brain and that our brain actually filters in consciousness. Most only use what is necessary for a survival level of awareness, but it seems possible to open that filter to allow more information to pass through. If you smoke 5-Me0-DMT you'll supposedly enter a realm of infinite knowledge and awareness instantly. I'm reading a book about it now, and I was just talking to a friend who has actually done it. Apparently it's true. haha

It re stimulates the pineal gland. The way I see it, the pineal gland stopped functioning so much, because we are now mature enough to be able to make our dreams reality, instead of just doing drugs and going back into dreaming, haha.

As far as opening up your senses, that is a different story.

Also, I know DMT users, and they don't seem any less bitter than anyone else.

If you want that kind of knowledge, just remember your dreams, meditate, exercise, or achieve your dreams in reality.

    Sorry for the lecture :(

5-Me0-DMT and DMT are very different beasts.

5-MeO-DMT is known for its presence in the secretions of the Bufo alvarius toad

Haha. Well, still, licking the back of the toad has always been known as one of those things that make you "trip."

I'm not hating. My idealism wants reality without drugs to fit my dreams. I don't even smoke weed anymore.

If you seriously have to explore, then at least try heavy deadlifts, running 5 times a week, natural fruits and veggie smoothies, mastering one of your fears, or meditation first, :D

Just be careful. Drugs can seriously help people.

Thats why they are so addictive.

People that have an urge for drugs, will understand a lot about their life from a drug, however, they won't gain any practical knowledge about how to actually do any of it when they aren't experiencing the highs from the drug, and so they will become dependent on highs.

*shrugs. That is why I mentioned the exercise check list.

Hard drugs will effect brain chemistry a lot faster than other things.

that being said though, maybe Love should be banned!

Jung's idea of the collective unconscious was different from Freud's concept of unconsciousness. Instead of the unconscious being limited to personal life experiences growing up, Jung believed that the unconscious contained archetypes which were universal to all humans. These are symbols that give us ideas and drives that are inherited and common to all humans. He would borrow symbols from mythology. For instance Jung would describe "the trickster,"earth mother" and "the hero" etc and that examples of these symbols could be found across cultures and throughout time.
