Yes. I wanted to see it but apparently it was in certain theatres and didn't do well (?). If you catch it, let me know how it is.

I saw this pop up on PB at the beginning of this month and was released DVD-wise on the 8th... Apparently its only Part I. Will have to wait for Part II as incomplete movies annoy me (except for you Kill Bill vol 1 <3).
Critics raped it but apparently 80% of audience enjoyed it according to RT... Sounds like the beginning of a cult classic...
Hope for the best, expect the worst...

The Forever War? Ridley Scott?! Omg omg OMG!!! It will have to be phenomenal, my expectations are already set unreasonably high

What would be good would be Peter F. Hamilton's Commonwealth Saga. It reads like a movie as it is. That would be incredible. And I heard Altered Carbon was being made, but that was a few years ago, and nothing seems to have eventuated, oh so sadly...
    Woof thanked this post.

Well it is full of second rate actors, and the massively deep and developed characters are stripped down to short "catch phrases" from the book. I also felt it doesn't truly capture reality's cause and effect correlation of politics and economics as the books tend to do. I don't think we can expect any major actor or actress to take a stand against the main stream media and even popular opinions for the sake of simple truth.

But having said this, I still would recommend the movie once the others have been released as an opportunity for individuals to open their minds a bit and consider not-so-popular ideas about our world. The acting wasn't terrible, it just wasn't our favorite stars being overly dramatic or blowing things up--it's important to remember that Ayn Rand finished this book in 1956, less than a decade after WWII!

Yes, critics wouldn't be caught dead supporting such an unpopular and controversial topic. I'm surprised that 80% of the audience enjoyed it though--I wonder if I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't read the book first? Objectively I truly want it to encompass the book's goal but I do not know if it did or did not, as I so recently read the book and so filled in many of the missing parts naturally.

Overall I'd highly recommend it to those of us who believe content trumps first rate actors, and who can understand the movie is almost entirely scripted using the actual words used of the author born in 1905 (though it is appropriately modified to some extent).

If one can get into it after considering those, watch it. But wait 'til Part II and III are released!

Ummmm back to the OP's thread though... sorry got distracted. One book I think would be amazing to turn into a documentary movie would be Strategy by B.H. Liddell Hart. A truly amazing account of history through the eyes of a Strategist and Grand Strategist--a more in depth look into what Sun Tzu attempted to convey in the Art of War.

I had a similar reaction when I found out as well. Just as long as he finishes Prometheus first, and makes it good. I loved the Forever War, easily one of my favourite scifi books. Just a pity Forever Free and Forever Peace weren't so good.

I would love to see Ender's Game made into a movie. But it would be horrendously difficult, and very emotionally dark considering the book and what occurs in it.

Kingdom Hearts? lol I know it's not a book but that would be so cool :)

Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn trilogy would make some great films. I'd also like to see The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass made into films - although they'd better be superior to the dreadful Golden Compass movie.

The Chrysalids by John Wyndham!! They've made so many of his other books into movies, but The Chrysalids was always my favourite and could be absolutely AWESOME.

definitely ender's game but they need to really show everything because i hate movies that don't show everything (like Harry Potter and Percy Jackson). Also The Night Circus would be great- i could see it as a movie

Casual Vacancy by JK Rowling. I just finished it a couple days ago and was hoping it would be made into a movie, it had some pretty disturbing, true to life moments. I was touched.
