Nice vs Good

The reason it isn't working is because there is a clear distinction between a nice guy and a good man ^_^. It is important to be who we are but to also be bettering ourselves at all times.
For the human mind is seldom at stay: If you do not grow better, you will most undoubtedly grow worse. ~Samuel Richardson
I hope I shall possess firmness and virtue enough to maintain what I consider the most enviable of all titles, the character of an honest man. ~George Washington
We should always strive for better than nice(Which in latin and Old french means Ignorant), and when we reach the level of a good man we should set the goals higher and continue to improve ^^
To settle for nice is a depressing and shallow level to go for. We influence those around us every day, so why continue to encourage such an average life view when we can go for greatness.
Every wrong seems possible today, and is accepted. I don't accept it. ~Pablo Casals
Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes to live. ~Oscar Wilde
Another problem I see is when people will label themselves the nice guy. A truly good person would have humility so either the people aren't nice guys or what a nice guy is is actually alot less than what the world portrays.
Dignity consists not in possessing honors, but in the consciousness that we deserve them. ~Aristotle
Are you not ashamed of heaping up the greatest amount of money and honour and reputation, and caring so little about wisdom and truth and the greatest improvement of the soul? ~Socrates
I'm sorry for continuously making this distinction but my heart cannot accept the mediocre definition of what people would consider the epitome of humanity, and if it is not the epitome then people are settling too soon and accepting a title that is below the merits of what they could be.
