Original Thought

I've been involved with threads on the topic of original thought and I've come to the conclusion there is very little "original thought" going on in the world. Why do I ponder this? I want to write a book, I'm seeking an original topic but I don't want something that has been done before. I'm not interested in the typical romance novel, nor do I wish to mull over a topic viewed in so many angles it makes us all dizzy (think vampire-mania). So where do we go in our minds to come up with something as amazing as The Hunger Games?

I guess my dig begins by putting pen to paper, scrawling random ideas as they make their way out of my stale old mind. Perhaps with a few scattered puzzle pieces of thought will come something sounding convincingly original.

Feel free to volunteer random thoughts - I take in strays!

Many stories are the same "framework" with varying elements- and the author's very own "voice" projected through and through. I think it's the voice that captures readers most and makes a book unique. Good luck!!!

Original thought is kind of like illusionary maya. There is so much that is beautiful in the world, almost too much to be discovered. Once it is all physically found, what else is there? Maybe less apparent in the past, when so much was invented, and still yet true now, a feeling of discovery I think happens when people look within-and bring forward to the world their unique essence.

One thing I enjoy about the unoriginal is that there are opportunities to not have to "reinvent the wheel". Thus, giving people a lot of time, to take the time to discover themselves. I wonder if I'm making some sense! But yes, I do agree for sure there is a lack of originality perpetuating. I think it has to do more with people seeking familiarity than it does with an un-inventive nature in man. And well other factors...You are so super at thought provoking posts!
