The canvas is poised and ready to go
The brushes eagerly awaiting their command
The colours with their poignant status
Aware they will create something astounding

The artist eerily stares into the void of whiteness
Anticipating a strong emotion
Thus the feeling can come alive on canvas

The canvas remains a blank
Self doubt has emerged
Optimism dwindles
Just like raindrops that cling to the sodden leaves
The artist reminisces of once expressive art

The inspiration is no longer
The seeds of doubt are set
What are lies, what are truths?
Why should one even believe
That something amazing could of been created

So i walk away from my canvas
feeling deflated and bludgeoned
Time to pursue over dreams
Today i was not meant to create something beautiful

Today i was meant to feel .. inadequate

I am not an artist
I am just someone who believes ......

What you feel you cannot paint with a brush, can be painted with words.
The imagery comes alive in the canvas of the mind as your poem demonstrates.
The idea is expression and the need to express can have so many forms.
I write to purge myself of the darkness within, to free myself of the emotions that everyday life does not afford me the opportunity thereof.
That is the magic of artistic expression.

I am surprised you find yourself inadequate in this regard.
As you state, You simply need to believe.
Explore your own inner landscape and you will be surprised at what you might find.
