Life outside the cubicle.

Posted 07-02-2009 at 02:59 PM by Raistlin
When at work, my days are crazy and I get pulled in every direction feasibly possible, which normally works well for me. Organization and structure are not my thing, and I can bounce and juggle tasks quite easily.

People will come to me about anything and everything. If they don't know something, they ask me. Many times, I can answer their question because I have made it a point to understand everyone's jobs, not just my own. If I don't know the answer, I know who does, and I go find out and report back to whomever was asking the question in the first place.

But, I have now enabled people to not think for themselves. And its gotten on my last nerve. I have one employee that I have told four times the same exact thing. In two days. And that aggravates the hell outta me.

I've tried empowering others by letting them make the decisions. They look at me as if I'm from another planet and simply won't do it. So now I'm snipping at everyone because I'm getting tired of holding everyone's hands.

I just don't understand how people can work at the same place for 5, 10, 25 years and not grow. To not even try to grow. I get, well no one told me. Um. Well, no one told me either, but I made it a point to know.

Its so frustrating to work with people whose world ends at their cubicle.

Note: I've been trying to quit smoking, so my normal negativity is enhanced. Just a tad.
