I began this passage as a response to a forum post, but decided its heavy-handedness would've been insensitive in context. The original statement I desired to respond to was very simple, something along the lines of "When female-kind and male-kind recognize that they are equal and the same, dominance will become irrelevant." I believe this conclusion was reached because so many women feel it necessary to be rough and, in essence, adhere to a "masculine" standard to reach equality with men.

In the world where people are equal, dominance will become irrelevant. Unfortunately, the last time socialism got a big break, 6 million Jews were gassed. Equality is such a delicate concept that even one small inconsistency taints the whole balance. Hence, as humankind has proved through the failures of socialist markets that not all humans can take only what they need, equality is a Platonic perfect mold which we only grasp second-hand copies of. Already, movements for women's equality haven't caused women to become more equal to men; women now dominate college graduation statistics and education fields in the nations where they've been allowed an education. 50/50 is not so easy to reach as the "measure twice, cut once" philosophy communism made it out to be. Today in North Korea, women make up 80% of the work force, but single fathers are still a novelty. So-called equality for women, for better or worse, has caused us to dominate men in the areas in which we strive. All good that humankind does in the world is another dose of cough medicine to take the edge of our AIDS, inequality, another day. Humanitarianism is a baby fist of protest raised against all the heavenly hosts and then some, for, alas, those who took only what they needed died long ago, and the greedy and knowledgeable passed along their genes. And yet, it keeps us human, and we keep ourselves from killing our souls to feed our bodies because of it.

However, the symptoms mentioned are still treatable. The mere fact that sensitive men and analytical women exist in large numbers proves that they are not useless to society, or there would be no sensitive men or analytical women.

If men support feminism and women support masculism, and both genders band together to break just enough existing stereotypes so as to be their wholly individual female or male selves regardless of societal expectations, gender equality may not be the norm, but it might become acceptable in society, and so might all of us males and females.

The pendulum was held at one end and has been let go. In a way, we don't know when it will be done swinging and then return or how long it will sway back and forth. Can true equality ever be reached? Eventually, but we must first endure the fierce punishment the pendulum will dole out until it settles. It is of our own making, so we must accept it for what it is.

People are not equal to one another, but they deserve equal chances at happiness in life. As someone who has never been given a break and was actually denied financing for schooling based on who I am and my family, I can say that we have a long way to go before the pendulum is done with us.
