Of Awful And Wondrous Things

It's 5 AM, and here are three things in my life that are wonderfully, sensationally awful yet gratifying. Here we go...
1- Winter Break
For a busy college student is paradise... in fact, TOO much paradise. My sleep schedule went from strange to bizarre. I'm up until at least 3 AM every single night, and I sleep in until 2 PM. The sun is setting at 5:30 PM at this time of year. Hooray, 3 hours of daylight!
It is the best and worst thing ever.
Though I've been able to stay active for at least a couple hours out of the day, whenever I have free time I'm either writing for my part time job, or... you guessed it playing Skyrim. I'm not getting a whole lot done.
It's hands down the best video game I've ever picked up. It looks phenomenal and the gameplay is solid, but it also has perhaps the best sound I've ever encountered in a game. From subtle effects in the environment the terrifying sliding steel when you unsheathe your weapon to an out-of-this-world soundtrack done by Jeremy Soule. For gamers, Skyrim is the best of what's around- period.
3- "Elfen Lied"
It is the most disturbing anime I've ever watched. Actually, most disturbing show/movie I've ever watched. Sure there's excess blood and gore, but that doesn't bother me a whole lot (as it may for some).
Now, it's a great show. Deeply compelling story line that literally almost made me hurt emotionally- that is how hard it pulls on your heart strings.
But there's also some things that made gasp in absolute horror. Don't wanna spoil it for anyone, but they touch on some very... touchy subjects. Hell, the introduction for one of the main characters is seeing her naked, chained to a wall bloodied to no end... sickening. And yet, I couldn't stop watching. Weird, huh?
